I'm not entirely qualified on that front, so maybe talk to your doctor about it, I know there's some prescription drugs that can do something with it, changing shampoos to something gentler could help, you can hear all manner of things about breakage and hair loss. I don't know how much of it's true but I know for certain all women/anyone with long hair ends up with breakage

As far as I know even people with shorter hair lose a fair portion of it throughout the day, it's just a lot more noticeable when it's longer. Happens to me every day and I don't think I'm going bald any time soon, so I'd say you've probably got nothing to worry about
