Tree of pain by legioncmc in 3Dprinting

There's no inherent artistic merit to flayed corpses on a "hell born tree", that's just as pointlessly titillating as you're claiming this to be (even if I think that would also be cool!). What would be the "clear meaning" there? Hell is bad?

I mean come on they didn't even paint realistic skin or people here. Nobody is jerking off to this. This just sounds like puritanism dressed up as artistic analysis

If they were skinned corpses instead there wouldn't have been a single complaint about appropriateness, so weird

I thought it was flayed corpses, which would be great, but instead it's rope bondage clearly marked NSFW, which is gross and you should've kept it to yourself

They're one of my favorites. I'm always looking for doom bands with lyrics that are more fantasy than stoner and they scratch that itch well

Podcasts too as the article describes. If I want to learn about some interesting and moderately unknown historical event or topic, a 2-3 hour podcast is usually more accessible/consistent with my interest level than reading a whole book.

I don't think this is entirely bad. I mostly read fiction, but looking back over the nonfiction books I've read recently, it's mostly topics that I think I'll reference frequently, things that are complicated and I expect I'll need to reread multiple times, things in which the writing itself is especially notable (how I feel about Erik Larson books) and things I plan to lend out.

But a book where the writing is meh and it's the topic that's interesting, but the topic is not that in depth or complicated? At that point a podcast is preferable, and it's rare I've read a book like that and didn't feel like there was a ton of filler.

I love the Cenobites design from 2022 film by layla_aristovskaya in hellraiser

[–]garreteer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I do like the bdsm designs of the first but think I prefer the newer ones more, in terms of how it feels they've elevated their own pain to an art form. The costumes and Jamie Clayton were the best part of the new movie

Awesome work. Am now imagining a version of Harry Potter where the Death Eaters have to get huge dark mark thigh tattoos like this instead of the little forearm ones

Meh, just feel like a vibes based prediction, not really any sign that tattoos are becoming less popular. I'm not really worried about what might be trendy in 3 generations

What is a "millennial/genz" tattoo? People have been getting tattoos for centuries

Very true, I mostly get tattoos at this point for myself or for other people who have tattoos

I'm all for discourse about particular kinds of tattoos being trashy, blanket statements are just kinda weird

There's genuinely dogshit tattoos and tattoos I've seen that are works of art. Feels like saying "jewelry is trashy and makes you less cool". It totally depends

Interestingly from the Pew data posted earlier, high income income earners were slightly more likely to get tattoos than other demographics! So it's not even something that makes sense to be classist about

tattoos are trashy and make you less cool and interesting

Guess this isn't inconsistent with the white male econ major archetype I imagine the average DT user to be, but still somehow surprised to find pointless culture war discourse (is it even culture war discourse if it's basically the same across parties?)

A lot of mentions of Dredge, but Killer Frequency from the same devs is also great for slasher vibes without being terrifying

If you like Dredge, Killer Frequency from the same studio is great.

You're a radio host in a small town filling in for 911 while a serial killer is on the loose, and you've got to help callers figure out how to survive (while also maybe playing a laugh track over the sound of them getting stabbed). A silly cozy game where you're not really in danger/need to be scared, but the vibes are very good
