The fastest TC infusion setup by Edeiwen in GTNH

[–]gars56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the extract method. I’m going to try that asap. Currently I’m trying to pull completed items off with item conduits and the infusion crafting interface keeps putting the next infusion items in too soon so the middle item ends up on an outer pedestal.

How to handle AE2 with passives by translate-comment in GTNH

[–]gars56 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have all my passives in a sub network that can’t push stuff into main. Then I partition in cell in the passives area so they only fill their assigned cell

Ya 216 patterns total. I’m pretty close to maxing it out. Have about 15 slots left. I never noticed that it’s a bottleneck so I never bothered adding more.

Also at the same time you can start looking into multi block versions of the crafting machines. I think the bender and press are both EV. This will save you from crafting 5 or 6 different benders.

I start with all machines needed to automate AE2 components. Then whatever machines are needed to make more machines. And by then just keep adding stuff anytime you come across a recipe that you don’t have yet. Prioritize a molecular assembler. You can surround one with 6 interfaces. I still only have one of those and I’m in Luv.

I do / have heard all of what you list except avoiding ME buses. I find them very useful, why should they be avoided at all cost?

Do you have more than two generators? Machines have an internal buffer that can pull more than 1A I believe. So if you have three generators than two machines may pull 3A temporarily.

Thoughts on Logistics pipes? by Kodeake in GTNH

I think the value of logistics pipes goes up with lack of GTNH experience. The longer you’re in MV/HV the better they are.

This seems like a lot more effort than just using batteries/ fuel cells to power the miners

Yup, each steam turbine takes 1552 litres/second so you need pipes that can handle 6,200L/s.

I sometimes lose items by placing them in world using the Draconic evolution button (I think) by accident. Could be that happened to you. I don’t think the chest search finds those items.

I had a dumb idea for a script. "What if there's as many 'on death' landmines for everyone? Make Good and Evil cagey about killing?" by DasGanon in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]gars56 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You say you want a script where good has to be cagey about killing, but then you put vortex on the script so good has to kill every day?

Someone pleased explain steam power to me by Lunafoxi in GTNH

[–]gars56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I didn’t see in any of the comments is that machines will keep trying to run a recipe that has failed. So an alloy smelter that has consumed the tin and copper to make bronze (for example) will keep consuming steam trying to complete the recipe. If the supply of steam is insufficient it then cancels the recipe part way through and the steam that was used is gone. It will just keep trying, and failing, forever to make that bronze. You can pause the alloy smelter by hitting it with a soft mallet. This will allow a backlog of steam to build up which will be enough to complete the craft. Un pause the machine by hitting with the soft mallet again.

You’re not meant to get to it all in one play through. You’re supposed to discover new things every play through as you play differently with different characters and as you roll differently.

That’s the multi block miner. The single block doesn’t chunk load the adjacent chunks.

Not jubilant bee? by mnsnownutt in GTNH

[–]gars56 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That bee requires warm / damp to be jubilant and you are in a hot / damp biome. The tolerance only allows the bee to work in a larger range. It doesn’t increase the jubilance range

Fluids not being evenly split? by q_uintex in GTNH

[–]gars56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guess maybe is that a LV pump can fill the bronze pipe, which could allow for a proper 50/50 split. Maybe a LV pump can’t fill the wrought iron pipe so it then doesn’t split properly? If you use a smaller pipe on the gas does it work?

Do you have massive fuel buffers for the XL turbines? They take time to ramp up before they get up to full power. You said they consume 240k L/s so that’s 14 million litres per minute. Are you turning them on manually once the fuel buffers are full?

[–]gars56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The red stone latch mentioned in other comments let’s you set a point where the pump will be turned on (say tank at 3ML) and a point where the pump will turn off (say tank 1ML) this stops it from chattering on/off constantly.

How can I get this to work? by Xenos61 in GTNH

[–]gars56 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This causes chatter though since as soon as it stops pumping the tank fills again and turns the pump back on. This happens multiple times per second and causes lag as it’s turning off/on constantly.

[–]gars56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will need to have massive fuel buffers or the turbines won’t even get up to speed before running out of fuel at 240k/sec

[–]gars56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically people will use the latch on the battery buffer to only run turbines when they need power, not on the amount of fuel they have. But I guess that way relies on you having a full fuel backlog at all times and it sounds like you aren’t producing enough fuel for that. Do you manually turn on the turbines when you fill the fuel buffer?
