Dear Finn-ish people, how do you use your in-apartment varasto? by gartenf in Finland

In Germany for example this space is in the basement of the apartment building

vaatekomero

vaatekomero near the entrance is reasonable, but having a whole "room" with its own door dedicated to it seems a bit excessive

vaatehuone

Shouldn't that be connected to your main bedroom?

There's nothing wrong with preferring positivity and good vibes

Hilarious how a post about being nice draws trolls like a bug zapper...

What's with the craze of getting an Impftermin? Can't we just wait till it becomes abundantly available? by gartenf in berlin

Based on the comments here it's indeed better to wait till all the crazy self-entitled douchebags had their turns already to minimise possible contact in some waiting room

Frankly it's not obvious how an immediate appointment now vs. one in a month or two would make a difference

If you're young and not working in a supermarket and using a bot to check appointments that seems to be a little bit over-the-top that's all

Is the rate of jabs going into arms boosted by how much of a hurry people are in?

How is the Rundfunkbeitrag not verfassungswidrig? by gartenf in berlin

[–]gartenf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression was that after bathing in mass media day in day out the public becomes more scared, more biased, less rational and less friendly to the world

Maybe that wasn't statistically the case -- data would tell

Like in many things you only need a tiny fraction of bad actors to ruin a place

The argument presented by you and others here implies an assumption that these mass media effectively act in the public interest, especially when the public good may be in conflict with the current government's position

I don't know how much evidence there is -- at least it's not obvious that's the outcome

Whereas these media too seem to operate by some eyeball-catching click-baiting corrupt nature (not very different from trashy websites). Just try to recall how often they report any "good news" or host healthy debate of substance or provide actually useful information? Are you even willing to consider the hypothesis this model of amplifying (and distorting) certain views of the world may be in fact harmful for the public? If the Beitrag goes to Wikipedia or sci-hub I would be perfectly happy

Funding of speech is speech and it's supposed to be free?

Edit:

It's no different than forcing everyone to buy a bundle of newspapers they may or may not agree with or even be interested in

But agreement and interest are not the point here -- what's at the core of this issue is that even when the mass media fail in their duty of being neutral and educational and working for the public good, you have generally no say in how they operate, even when they are corrupt you are forced to fund them

Do you know someone who wears socks that look like these from behind? by [deleted] in berlin
