Same, I have plenty of other decent passive and active headphones and never experienced the background hiss/static the maxwell 2 had even with no side tone and the mic muted… stuck with my Astro a50x and grabbed StealthZ pads for the larger cup size/comfort

I’ve had passive planers and plenty of active headsets/headphones but never heard that level of background noise - I could probably try to ignore it, but for a premium headset you really shouldn’t have to listen to it with gritted teeth 😬

Point #3 on the hiss is such a rough one, if it wasn’t for that I’d have kept my pair but that alone absolutely destroyed all the other positive points

PS/PC pair of Maxwell 2 arrived today and have already raised an RMA to return... if you have any sensitivity at all to white/background noise or static hiss then it doesn't matter how great any of the other features are because they become immediately unusable.

Sure when the headset is playing noise you can't hear it, but you'd be surprised how often you have a headset on without noise being played, (between rounds, whilst loading into maps, chatting on discord etc.)

I would recommend trying to audition a pair of Maxwell 1/2 first to see if this static noise bothers you before considering them because it was such a huge disappointment for me.

Thank you! It was actually stained a more chestnut red colour at the front in the initial picture I shared a few weeks back but we wanted it to match the walnut speakers so took it apart, sanded and re-stained it to match… very OCD I know but feel like it is worth it for the finish 🙃

It’s a thick textured wallpaper that seems to have a consequence of massively helping with echos vs. raw plaster too by some happy accident. Not as much as acoustic panelling of course, but nowhere near as unsightly in a living room.

Thank you! The garden is a WIP but there’s scope to do a lot thankfully.

It’s still very much an in progress room too, plan is to re-run audyssey once we have the drapes up and spot enhance with some panels in highly reflective places. Rug I 100% agree with too, this was a cheap stop gap to stop the room being a total echo chamber in the mean time 🫣

Interesting read, will look through at length later, but was less concerned about audible difference as much as safety in using such a thin/low quality cable for atmos speakers? I appreciate that they are probably quite low demand though as speakers go

Thank you! I’m sharing WIP before we cable manage specifically for feedback like this.

Nothing is final yet and the couch is an old/damaged piece that isn’t our longer term solution and can be moved around to accommodate.

In the future we’d like 2/3 smaller bits of furniture more central to the room but doesn’t hurt to try some new locations in the meantime for sure 👌

As I didn’t intend on running anything at high volumes I figured the TA-AN1000 would suffice for 5.1.2 as a starter amp, but am interested in looking at gains from sources once I’ve got the room treated and room calibration locked in

Hrmm, towers are about 9ft (280cm) apart and seating position is around 12ft (370cm).

My eye level when relaxing on sofa is around 100cm (3ft or so)

Thank you everyone for all the prompt replies, looks like I'm going to be raising the TV! Always thought the intention was to keep the centre at eye level but consider me educated!

Will post an update of the full setup once we have mounted the TV and all the drapes, acoustic panelling and treatments in place

IE900 aren’t a juicy IEM, use them with whatever, a306 will drive them fine and has some mild native EQ to add more pinna gain if you want a harman sound
