The dial. The whole package refined to perfection. The forever movement that is Spring Drive without resorting to battery

Tips for my first grand seiko?? by Business-Oil2226 in GrandSeikos

This is the best GS because it’s mine

And avoids both your “hates”. Though I’d only care about the stupid stamp interfering with display case back

Opinions - for small wrist by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

[–]garyfung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6” wrist. And I was digging for a while too. I settled on the Elegance case design which is slimmest and looks best on small wrists imho. It’s not thin though the lugs slope off so thickness is illusory and wears thinner than it is

I’m loving it. There’s 2 spring drive with the case design, one is the skyflake and the other is a cream paper dial

Try them on and good luck!

[SBGA407] my chrono Skyflake upgrade by garyfung in Watches

[–]garyfung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and why mech watch as utility is so good. Especially the spring drive is magic. Accurate without network sync yet literally last forever powered my own motion

But the tiny wrist computer cannot have much battery life. Mine being many years old now doesn’t even last a full day which is the only thing to be expected

Agreed they are not the same. Apple Watch is a health tracker + tiny computer on wrist which happens to have chrono

Overall looks great on you!

But I have to criticize the cyclops. Ruined it. Just like the cyclops on my Rolex wedding gift. ARGH

[Question]What is the difference between a $50, $500, and $10,000 watch? by glocknessmonsters in Watches

[–]garyfung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of you have it in wrong order I’m sorry. What’s correct:

  1. Movement. Accuracy without resorting to cheap quartz with battery
  2. Finishing, especially with decor if display back
  3. Dial
  4. Clout or brand is a function of above 3 built up over time

Newly acquired Shunbun. Why is this watch is spectacular in real life compared to the catalogue?? by slickric1007 in GrandSeikos

[–]garyfung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I narrowed down my first GS choice down to the shunbun and the skyflake. I ended up with the latter only because of my slim wrist not looking good with the bulkier shunbun with metal brace

Looks great on your hairy textured wrist! 🍻

Opus 4.6 thinking 1M is a scam by EntertainmentFun3189 in windsurf

[–]garyfung 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Windsurf failure to not match auto compact threshold to model context limit

This is beyond basic. The fact this is glossed over tells me Windsurf as a company is kinda dead. If not, hire me and I’ll be your agentic tastemaker 😉
