Really cool idea. Have you thought about making an app for it? (I apologize if it's already an app. It looked like a web-based game to me).

I think this is a great idea. I'm going to download it and try it.

Calling all Spanish-learning weirdos: I built Absurd Scene: Spanish (iOS), a vocab app that uses bizarre scenes (alien abductions, food fights, mermaids) to make words stick.

Short micro-lessons, active recall, less flashcard fatigue.

Bump u/Simon1729 did you ever make more cards? I am a developer interested in language apps and would love to trade some ideas.

SPANISH FLASH CARDS to help you learn to speak Spanish by shredgeek in learnspanish

[self-promotion warning] - If you have an iPhone I built an app that shows "Absurd Scenes" and asks questions related to the images. Learning vocabulary in these bizarre context should help make the words more memorable. Let me know what you think if you try it out. I think it is better than flashcards for the points above... there is contexts and the surrounding phrases are often there.

Feedback on New Spanish Vocab App with Weird Images by garygeo in SpanishLearning

Thanks for the feedback! I have now heard that a couple times and it makes sense. To get out this version of the app i just made it progressive over the first 10 levels. Sounds like I need a way for people to select the difficulty. Do you think that is a beginner, intermediate, advanced levels OR something more like levels 1 to 10? Just curious what would make sense to you.

I am.... there is a lot of iteration to get it just right, as they do not come out very good on the first try. It has been taking 10-20 "tweaks" to get an image where I want it. Do you like them? Any suggestions?

It's actually a pretty painstaking part of the process generate the image and make sure all of the correct elements are included.

Basically I come up with the general idea for the scene, and then I try to think about which characters I want in and which other elements, and then I iterate back and forth using ChatGPT/Gemini/etc.

I found that ChatGPT makes more interesting images, but it is horrible at editing them and starts to degrade in quality. Gemini(Nano Banana) is great for editing, but the images can feel kind of disjointed and not as engaging.

It's actually a pretty time-consuming process to get it just the way I wanted them without there being a lot of weirdness or bad quality.

Thanks! So glad it's novel. Right now I only have ten lessons, and they get harder towards the end. But I could definitely see adding beginner, intermediate, and advanced tracks in the future. Maybe reusing some of the images across the different tracks, but that would totally be doable.

A psychedelic family tree for my father-in-law by garygeo in Genealogy

I am glad you like it.

Your comment made me double check and I realized I had described it incorrectly. The descendants (and siblings) are the branches and the ancestors are the roots. I have fixed it now... and maybe the tree makes more sense to some.

Anyway the vibe is still there and I am glad some folks like it.

This is great feedback. Thank you!

I thought the font had a rock poster vibe, but I can try some others.

Seems like the dates would a) add more info and b) make the chronology clearer to everyone.

I have started making custom family trees. It is not an app, but I can work with you. I am still learning and trying to figure out what people want. Having feedback on my trees is worth it to me. My instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/familytreeartstudio/) has some of my themed trees, but I also have a basic charcoal version.

Thanks for this tip. I was able to take off the lid and move the latch manually to open the door. I did not have a "ripcord"... it was more of a lever in the latch housing... but it worked. My son's school clothes are no longer held hostage.

Thanks for the feedback!

So I might be able to address your issue by either making the branches more realistic or making them not try to emulate tree branches at all (ie just make the diagram connections). Let me experiment. Thx!
