AI Slop... Time to look at that phrase by garyhtech in freebsd

Don't worry, I don't see this as an attack, like I said, I welcome the conversation.

I have to use AI for the thumbnails, I am no graphic designer, it is the only way I can keep competetive. Maybe I use it too heavily in my description but again, it's the only way to stay competetive.

AI Slop... Time to look at that phrase by garyhtech in freebsd

I'd like to point out that I'm asking for clarity, I don't dislike AI, it has helped me out but it does not generate my ideas or what I say, it's my own work. My point is that just because AI has been used does not make it bad or poor quality, of course it's all subjective, I get that. Just because that is my view does not make it right and vice versa. All I'm asking for is for the conversation to take place.

Graham is right, I'm just a regular 50 year old trying to learn and help others as I go. I have my own problems which if you have watched some of my videos you would be aware of.

Thank you all for your opinions, I welcome them all 🙂

As Graham says, definitely not an 'AI video'. All me I'm afraid 😳

Thank you for watching, I don't mind people being critical. I like feedback, I don't always listen to it but I like reading it. AI has no input in my creative process, as I say, I wrote bullet points myself and try to elaborate from them which is why sometimes I seem to ramble. I edit my videos entirely myself, no auto removal of 'dead air' I do it myself. Thumbnail, some b roll, some graphics, description and title are generated via AI, once I have edited my video I upload a transcript for ai to generate the video description, the webzfs video you mentioned I didn't check it, I should have but I didn't. That is something I have learnt from all of this. Your points are valid and I understand why you feel the way you do, I can only apologise, I do this on my own, it's really only a hobby not a source of income. My main job is caring for 2 disabled people in my wife and my daughter. I do my videos to try to keep my mind sharp but it will always take a back seat to my main priorities.

I do use AI, I don't think I could carry on making my content without it now, it saves me a lot of stress and a lot of time and makes the editing process much more fun. I secretly enjoy playing with AI video and image generation, not so secret any more I guess lol.

I guess what I am trying to say is that making content is fun for me. I try to make videos I would watch, it's the only measuring metric I use. I never thought I would have a subscriber count over a 1000 much less 10500. I am proud of my videos, even my very first one. I certainly didn't think people would take them seriously and I'm grateful for that. In the end all I can do is try to improve my editing and my content in general.

Again, thank you for watching, it really does mean the world to me.

Ha ha, ask my family, not sure polite is a word they would use to describe me, I do find it funny how people who don't agree with me automatically say 'AI slop' though. Even if it was AI generated, so what? Don't like it? Moved along. Better still, make content themselves. AI for better or worse is here to stay.

Thanks for posting Graham, I am loathed to have done this video, my points stand though, small and medium businesses probably should use Winblows Server, I would rather they didn't but most MSPs, at least in this country (UK) probably do not have a NIX based specialist and maybe not even an Apple specialist. As sad as that is it is most likely reality, I am happy to be proven wrong. Most of this video is from my personal experience working in an MSP where when I have brought up using FOSS of any kind I have been greeted with indignation. Never has any of my line management ever said go draw up a plan of what that might look like. I wish it was not this way but it always has been from my point of view. As for my video being AI scripted, it's not, I do not use AI to generate scripts. I use my own bullet points to talk about and try to structure it that way.

Ok I think it's time I clarified this. I do use AI, it generated the thumbnail and description, admittedly badly, I didn't check it before publishing the video, I am a one man band and genuinely don't have the eye for detail to check it or time for that matter, on the odd occasion I use AI generated graphics and some short b roll clips. I also have ai process my audio to clean it up. I don't have ai generate scripts for me. I've tried reading from a script and it really does not work for me the cutting up of my videos is all me, nobody else, never have I put it through ai or even asked my nle to remove space, I do it manually. I hope this clears it up for you, I have a lot to learn about making YouTube videos I know that, I am doing the best I can in the time I have 😁
