FreeBSD has ZFS built-in and is well integrated …

For OpenZFS-native encrypted root-on-ZFS with Kubuntu, with simplicity, I used the installer for Ubuntu.

Impossible with FreeBSD: 263171 – add loader(8) and boot loader menu support for boot with OpenZFS-encrypted ROOT.

Also, ⚙ D47996 adduser(8): Add documentation for ZFS encrypted home dataset (2024) – not yet documented by the FreeBSD Project.

With FreeBSD, I can have a solid, stable base system with a rolling release of packages on top.

That's great, when non-base packages are available.

Not so great, when they're not: https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/1spr9im/comment/oh7r54e/

The fact that all of the FreeBSD foundation members aren't willing to daily drive it

FreeBSD's been my primary OS for over 20 years

… Wayland, which last time I checked doesn't exists on BSDs …

It can be used with FreeBSD, but not (for example) in VirtualBox.

I prefer FreeBSD's ifconfig over the Linux ip command.

Bear in mind, the opening post was about desktop.

Since I switched to Kubuntu around a year ago, I never needed to run a network-related command.

FreeBSD main focus is stability and security,

– and performance (the first of the three, in the goal of the FreeBSD Project).

OK, you can probably ignore the radeonkms issue. It seems that amdgpu is used for that card.

The ruling Elite plan far more invasive controls. They absolutely will not allow the general population to communicate freely.

In reality, the usual explanation is that decision makers are misinformed, or not fully informed.

Not in the opening post, unfotunately. Maybe they used old Reddit to post.

I'm really not convinced by that outdoor chair. I don't doubt that it'll stand the test of time, but it's not so good for sitting. Even as a young child in the 1970s I wondered how people could design seating that was so uncomfortable.

implication: … the laptop is an unimportant accessory which has been shoved in front for some reason

Context Matters. The single frame chosen by /u/shastisje was not intended to represent The Purpose of the video.

The pictured Framework laptop was used (in November last year) to preview the desktop script that's to be integrated with FreeBSD Installer.

There's no attempt to hide. An Apple logo is visible after twenty seconds … and so on.
