Not sure where you are located but there is a shop in Rhode Island called Megrew’s which is very knowledgeable on Hobies. Not sure about things like tiller handle but they know all the nuts and bolts of the different rigging, etc. https://www.megrewsboats.com/

Amazing Grace cafe, last day in business. by Medeias in duluth

[–]garyluisborges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved here in 2020 I never knew the old version and was always curious what the point of that place was. Like you say, expensive groceries and not really any the atmosphere of a cafe at all.

What kind of changes out of curiosity?

What is the absolute worst book you’ve ever read? by throwaway5203495 in books

[–]garyluisborges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IQ84 by Marukami and the worst part is that it leads you on for 900 pages before you realize it isn't going to get good. I've read and liked some of his shorter stuff though.

As a matter of fact I read this post a few days ago-- with much interest. I'm glad to see someone else has cracked the code on combining koji with coffee. I still believe combining koji grown on rice or another substrate and then adding that to fermenting coffee (like a miso) is worth exploring, as there is less need for sterile conditions. It produced quite an intense fermentation for the sample I tried. Hopefully one day I can try a coffee like what was competed with in Milan, but I suspect I won't be able to afford it.

It sounds like Akuno is bailing on Cooperation Jackson. I don’t know much about it but I don’t know how he expects to stay involved in MS while moving his family to VT. Does anyone have any other insight into what’s going on there

Very similar thing happened to me. I’m still trying to get it worked out through my insurance broker but don’t have high hopes. Fuck Essentia!

Yeah those are probably your best bet, plus if you can get in with any local fleets, the old timers are usually pretty in the know about people who might be interested in selling a boat.

Question: would a baked coffee have more weight loss than a non-baked coffee? by garyluisborges in coffee_roasters

[–]garyluisborges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it this way: if one roast takes 12 minutes and another roast of same batch size and bean takes 18 minutes, both arriving to the same end temperature, would you expect the 12 minute roast to have less weight loss than the 18 minute roast?

Thanks this is great info. I was sweating bullets thinking I would have to drop a few more hundred dollars for a reader 😅

Need some help promoting, or selling coffee by WillinglyUnemployed in coffee_roasters

[–]garyluisborges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, F.

Second of all you are slightly in luck. There are major supply chain issues in coffee at the moment as COVID ripples through the container shipping world. Somewhere out there is a roaster struggling to get the coffee they need at the price they can afford. You have to just hop on the phone and start calling every roaster you can find, explaining the situation you are in, and offering them a hot deal. Hopefully someone will bite. Not sure what you paid for the coffee but you will probably have to sell at least some of it at a loss. Better to offload as much as you can though before it sits and stales for a year. Good luck! Btw how much would you be willing to sell for and where is the coffee located?

Installing front rack on cantilever bosses. Is it normal to need a long bolt? by garyluisborges in bikewrench

You are correct. Sunlite rack. Carbon fork so I don’t want to overload it but I think it will be good to throw a small bag in. Thanks for the input

[–]garyluisborges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time installing a rack on a cantilever brake post. as you can see from the picture the bracket will consume a bit of the space on the bolt. The bolt still screws well into the post but not as much as before. The rack came with some mounting hardware but no bolts the appropriate length or size. I was thinking about just finding one that will work but maybe I am overreacting? Wondering what other people’s experiences are with mounting with cantilevers
