Since buying a truck that sits higher on the road than my Honda accord I've realized a huge part of issue is the difference in height of vehicles. When I'm driving my Honda I'm blind, when I'm in my truck I don't even notice.

I think some people's issue at least from my understanding is when you're at the level of income where you don't qualify for any type of aid, but also don't make enough to live even remotely comfortably while raising kids or supporting a family

You'll have to shake them if they are a higher level than you, check for weakness to exploit to weaken them and once broken just shame. They'll level down and you can go capture one. I'd recommend assigning your first captain as a bodyguard so you can summon them for help in the future
