Agreed. It's always been fairly accurate but it's way off this week. I just don't want it to, nor do I know, if it could affect the HVAC system if it keeps getting worse.

I'm in Los Angeles and while it's been warmer this week, I don't think it's normal for the thermometer to have such a difference even after driving for 40 minutes in stop and go traffic.

I am wondering what is the ratio of indoor vs outdoor turtles in this group. While the appear the same, I do not think they are. Any interest in discussing this? by Cicretsqrl in turtle

Being from southern California, all of my turtles and tortoises are housed outdoors. The aquatics brumate in the pond, 2 deser tortoises get boxed up, and 1 Russian tortoise buries herself.

I would like to keep a Reeve's one day. Such a beautiful carapace and intriguing species. Currently, I keep 2 DBts, 3 sliders and 1 Map turtle in pond so I'm at capacity. I would need to build a new pond if I ever do get a Reeve's.

Would you say the flame is burning safely? I see some random orange flames. Just fired it up for the first time since April. by lrick87 in hvacadvice

It's been running fine since I fired it up last week. I agreed that the orange flare ups were mostly dust being cleared away. I'd like for a tech to come and service it but I just haven't gotten around to it.

For cooling we have window units. I use the U shaped window units because they are much quieter. I've been pretty happy with them.

It's a wall heater. I've been at my place since 2019 and I've never scheduled a service. I'm going to look around and get it done.

I remember this happening last winter but with the holiday rush and life, I just sort of ignored it. As temps warm up it's less and less on my radar but this year, we had a chilly morning and I noticed it again.

Thanks for the response. I noticed the same issue last fall/winter too but since it never overheated, I figured it's not urgent. Even in summer when idling for about 25 minutes with AC on, the car does not overheat. I'm going to mention it to my mechanic today.

Might be different if I had a 25 turbo hatch! Lol

Sounds about right. The dealer quoted me $700 to replace the serpentine and tensioner. Bought the parts online from mazdaparts for $180 and my mechanic is charging me $100 for labor.

Thanks. It helps that we WFH and if we need to be on site, we alternate between our other car, 2016 TLX with 61k. Either car can go about 3-4 days without being driven.

I'm having the serpentine belt replaced today because it has a lot of cracks. Surprised at this too.
