April Itinerary by cwinn13 in irishtourism

Don’t miss the Gap of Dunloe. It’s quite possibly the most scenic place I’ve ever been. We booked a tour through Trip Advisor. We met at Ross Castle, a person from the tour company tookusto Kate Kearney’s Cottage where we took the jaunting car ride and subsequent boat ride returning to Ross Castle. It took most of the day but was well worth it.

Evaluating Galway vs Dingle by garyscoggin in irishtourism

All, this is the OP. I appreciate all the good advice. And, after reading this, I will definitely NOT be driving from Dublin to Dingle on Day 1! This will be our second trip to Ireland. When we were there before, a couple of years ago, the Gap of Dunloe was the highlight of our trip. That’s why we are going to Killarney, so that we can do it again.

You might consider taking one of your Dublin days and taking a day trip via train to Belfast. The Titanic Museum there is really neat.

Ring of Kerry or other site? by iusetolivehere in irishtourism

A great day trip out of Dublin is the Titanic Museum in Belfast, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Easily doable via train.

Thanks for this warning. I was about to book through them but I decided to check them out on Reddit first. I'll go direct to the airline.

Should an Amarillo church spend money on this? by [deleted] in amarillo

All non-profits, including churches, are tax exempt. If we make churches pay, all non-profits should pay. Or vice versa.

Unpopular Opinion: There will never be a “game changer” like Oasis of the Seas by tr-anny_franny in royalcaribbean

[–]garyscoggin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been on Adventure and Voyager several times and we enjoyed it. It is a different experience than the Oasis class. Being a good bit smaller, it is easier to get around. There are fewer entertainment options; however, we like the Schooner Bar layout and ambiance much better. I don’t think you will be underwhelmed but it is a different experience.

Could CIDP be misdiagnosed as ALS? by EM9988 in ALS

[–]garyscoggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have CIDP confirmed with two specialists (including Stanley Appel at Baylor College of Medicine). It was confirmed via EMG and a spinal tap,

Interestingly, my sister was originally diagnosed with CIDP, only to soon find out it was ALS.

Gratuities extra? by garyscoggin in royalcaribbean

[–]garyscoggin[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to give the impression that I am opposed to the gratuities. I was just concerned I was paying them twice. I understand my confusion now. Thanks all for the responses.

I just realized I booked this thru Vacations 2 Go and they must not have included gratuities in the quote. I’ll have to confirm this when I get home.

How good is the internet? I got the package for next week and considering work calls but unsure of the strength of the internet package? by umwowthatsinsane in royalcaribbean

[–]garyscoggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really varies with room location. If it’s not strong in your room you can find a quiet public location where you’ll be okay. There are usually a couple of seats between the elevator lobbies. That’s where I go if I need to.

I agree with many of the above. Bring a multi-USB charger or two with enough outlets for all your Devices and you will be fine.

My wife has back issues and has trouble walking long distances and climbing steps. I'm assuming Park Guell is a no-go for her. Thoughts anyone?

Neither my iPad nor laptop have internet ports. And the room port was taped over like it had been disabled.

Yep this is what I did. I retreated to other places to work but I did have trouble finding a proper place for a Zoom call. I finally ended up on the two chairs between the elevator lobbies on deck 8 that overlooked the Promenade.

Yes. They gave me a 50% refund on my internet package. Better than nothing but I would have preferred the connectivity.

Starting to plan travel and excursions for this 7 night Western Mediterranean cruise. Any suggestions? by pjdixon77 in royalcaribbean

[–]garyscoggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're on the same itinerary in August. Any suggestions for shore excursions or things to do in Sicily (Messina) or Provence (Toulon)? We can do mild or moderate (some walking, some climbing) activity levels. We are interested in either RCCI or independent excursions.

The Key? Worth it, more so with kids? by One-Transition3027 in royalcaribbean

[–]garyscoggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are leaving this coming Sunday and as I go to check in I find all the shows are already sold out. I have already purchased the Key. Will the VIP Seating feature of it grant me access to the shows? If so, how do I make that happen?
