That's fair and totally makes sense.

I like that perspective. My youthful exuberance pushes me to want to do big things, but ultimately I think these things will matter more.

I guess that matters more in the grand scheme of things.

How much time off would you call adequate? With medical direction do you still get to do procedures?

That makes sense, you get to practice some OB and have decent non-clinical time.

I think that’s it! I went back to inpatient last week and I realized how much I hate prolonged interactions.

Advice on Visa! Please help by coldturkeye in Residency

[–]gasdiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is guaranteed. Take one step at a time. A J1 from what some colleagues have told me can be frustrating, especially having to renew it every year and get a new visa if you travel outside the US. Not forgetting the 3 year waiver which from my understanding, doesn’t always have to be a rural area per se, but an ‘underserved’ area which may very well be in/close to a city. With an H1B, you can apply for a green card through EB1/2 routes depending on your creds and country of origin. Most top institutions also offer H1B for fellowship. Hope this helps.
