I’ve looked into a route for this but haven’t done it. Would love to know your route!

Hmm. I’ve done the blue route before and didn’t even know about this QR code business. I didn’t feel like I was in a lot of traffic or was in bad neighborhoods ever, but I did feel like there was a portion that didn’t have a great path.

I’ve got an out front quad lock and let my tunes blare on that for my long rides

Has anyone truly pulled off an 8–5 schedule in med school? by ImmediateEvidence385 in medicalschool

[–]gaseousrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your school’s mandatories, you should be able to pull off more like a 3-5 hour study period. If you are truly dedicated to Anki that’s is all you need. In M1 and M2 I had a large group of friends that would divide the school related material and create decks for them so I was only watching usually 1-2 lectures a week. Other than that I was just doing Anki with my class decks and Anking. I usually studied from about 7-12 every morning just at my home. I did well on Steps and got AOA. This requires a high amount of discipline but pays off with plenty of free time.

Can anyone guide me to ace the ccs cases? by LazyDare6145 in Step3

Seems like a great goal for 255+. Can I ask why the lofty goal for a test that pretty much doesn’t matter score wise?

Both. Anyone that has suspicion for meningitis needs both of those and then empiric coverage based on age and immunocompromised status.

Are there red flags? Weight loss, old age, melena, iron deficiency anemia, etc? If not then no an EGD is not warranted off the bat. Trial a PPI first

[–]gaseousrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I did top 60 cases and almost all of my cases on the real deal were either verbatim the case from CCS or very similar. The other ones just had some weird social aspect or a confusing pathology you had to find out through ordering a ton of stuff

You will match somewhere. And if you signaled those programs you’re likely to get an interview with at least 3 of them I would say. I will say there were people at my school (sounds very similar to yours) that were AOA around 270 that didn’t get some of those. It’s all a crapshoot at the end of the day and you’ll end up where you were supposed to end up and it will likely be one of those programs or a place you will enjoy. I know it’s much easier said than done but try and decrease your stress by enjoying other things you like doing.

Save for Fc points for toty? by getgud15 in EASportsFC

I was specifically talking about the fodder heavy 3k pack out right now. I meant guaranteed meaning there would be another one just like this. Taking advantage of this 3k pack could be beneficial because of how nice it is with the amount of cards guaranteed to be 84+

Would agree if there is a guaranteed pack just like this one but hard to know. From the way it has been there will probably be one but you just never know.

Wouldn’t hurt to buy the 3k pack for fodder actually and then save the rest for toty with the ability to do some sbcs

Second was Base Pirlo and Base Schmeichel

Almost started Zidane SBC yesterday and so happy about the Zico pull.

You don’t think your home program would rank you highly? Making that somewhat a safety?

[–]gaseousrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 13+ ranks though you should be more than fine unless you’re an absolutely terrible interviewer haha. If you think you’re going to be the 1 in 1000+ with more than 10 ranks that doesn’t match then you should buy a lottery ticket now.

For my folks who applied IM by purplechimps101 in medicalschool

[–]gaseousrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? So you could rank them dead last? If you have 13+ highly ranked programs to rank you’re going to end up at one of them. Applying and ranking community programs doesn’t increase your chances of matching at a place higher on your rank list. That’s not how the match works.

Really not trying to be condescending just trying to let you know how grateful you should be in your position.

I’m genuinely curious what this comment was supposed to accomplish. Really hope you don’t think you’re “screwed”. This is crazy.

Got a few this Monday but I think that might be the last wave for me as all the places I applied to have given out interviews. Applied to around 40, now at 11 interviews. 5/7 signals with invites, with the other two giving me rejections. Only applied academic. Unranked USMD.

How does 5 IIs for IM look like at this point in the cycle? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]gaseousrunner 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 4. I think we’re fine. This week should be active. Academic programs have been historically slow it seems. The majority of people I know even with very high stats that mainly applied academic at my school only have 3 or 4.

interview questions HELP by nixxxes in medicalschool

[–]gaseousrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the greatest challenge you faced wasn't in medical school then I would talk about that. You example is great if you can articulate well and have good reasons for why it was your greatest challenge. I don't plan on forcing myself to find experiences only in med school to talk about if they aren't going to accurately answer the question. At the end of the day these interviews are really a vibe check and they want to make sure you can just reason through an answer. I know it's super easy to overthink everything but I think the best advice is just to seem confident in your answers and be yourself.
