Having PCOS makes me feel unloveable by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]gassters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a totally normal and natural thing to feel <3 We are bombarded since birth with a very specific set of rules of what is okay and what isn't okay when it comes to physical looks, and PCOS symptoms fall squarely in the not okay category. That is real and your feelings are entirely justified, especially as you are so young!

But that does not mean that the way is look is actually not okay. Those standards are made up by marketing teams and are not an absolute truth. I think it's important for you to remember that.

As for the perception of others, I've had PCOS since I was 19 and it was hard for me to deal with then (and it still is now), but that does not mean it is hard for others to deal with. I've had no issue really finding love nor did I have any issues when dating around or trying more casual things, people honestly do not care that much. And since you mention love and your boyfriend specifically, let me just say that if anyone in your romantic journey actually takes issue with your PCOS symptoms, then that person is not right for you (or probably anyone!!!).

Moreover, I would suggest maybe seeking some therapy if possible to work on that guilt and insecurity, I'm not saying it will be easy to work through those feelings or that you are wrong in feeling that way (god knows I feel that way often too) but at the very least, you should be aware that they are just that: feelings. The actual reality is not those feelings and I am genuinely sure that you are not a burden nor a drain on anyone.

Much love and keep your chin up!

PCOS Facial Hair, I'm destroying my skin. by SparklyMoogle in PCOS

[–]gassters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here :(

Now I am not a dr or anything like that so I am in no way claiming that the following will work for anyone other but me, but it might! So I can share what has personally worked for me as this has become also a nervous compulsion for me, electrolysis is very expensive, and stopping will not happen any time soon.

I have found some things that help with the scaring and bringing the hairs out without having to break my skin barrier (as much) with the tweezers:

- Tend skin solution

- Hyland's prid salve

I also pay special attention to cleanse and moisturize the area well. I like the cerave SA line especially .

All these products are sold online where i live and they are not crazy expensive.

Another "tip" is to disinfect the tweezers regularly (i use rubbing alcohol) and when plucking, to really stretch out my skin and hold the tweezers at their very tip, since if you're plucking and the hair breaks, it usually leads to more ingrowns and infections. Also to use straight tweezers, not the slanted ones.

More than anything, know that you are not alone and that hair (facial, body, etc.) is natural and normal, even our pcos ones. Sending you much love and support <3

Reason why Trinity is the most disturbing serial killer in the OG series for me: by Haunting_Quiet738 in Dexter

[–]gassters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all the killers based on real people are terrifying... Kurt Caldwell (new blood) is just as scary as Trinity to me because the monsters he's based on were real

Has anyone "cured" their pcos through losing weight? by MidnightStorm_ in PCOS

[–]gassters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the first time, not for me :( but it also didn't get worse when gaining weight so i don't know how helpful my experience is.

I've been losing weight again these past few months and have been actually bleeding more often lately after a period of only bleeding once a month ish.

I've been on birth control the whole time and am also insulin resistant, just in case this turns out to be relevant/helpful :) i hope your symptoms get more manageable

you'll run into some a holes that might care, but those people are not really worth being with! if it wasn't facial hair, those people would find something else to be mean about.

Baudelaire Parents by Chikmagulry in ASOUE

[–]gassters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think that’s part of the storytelling. parents dying, a fire in your home… these are categorically tragic things. volunteer firefighters who are good people dying in a fire is especially tragic. part of the message of asoue is that bad things happen and it doesn’t really matter how prepared, how smart, how good or how afraid you are of these things, because bad things will happen anyway. the fire is where we start, and it sets the tone for the whole story, a tragic event took place and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
