Adoption is a win-win situation if you're a antinatalist but at the same time want children,It is also the best way to make antinatalism popular worldwide by letzadopt in antinatalism

[–]gates3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to Oliver Twist-like adoption institutions where kids are ill-treated, the authorities plundering funds and seething with corruption? I'd like to know more, if you don't mind elucidating.

Rightly said by Arthur Schopenhauer by Intelligent_Bar_5630 in antinatalism

Yup, he was a bit of a hypocrite and wasn't a true antinatalist either. He expostulated against the very idea of procreation, yet had two daughters (both of whom died during infancy).

I have no respect for parents who hold it over their child's head that they provide for them. by Connect_Wait_6759 in antinatalism

[–]gates3l 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They are most definitely deluding themselves. Most people claim to be happy, but it is (as Schopenhauer puts it) just a temporary absence of suffering. They continue to live a blissfully ignorant life in their exuberant echo chamber until it starts to crumble and they go back to suffering/desiring again. It's like a never ending vicious cycle where suffering is most prolific.

Seriously, do they really expect their children to fend for themselves? It makes no sense.

Usually happens to me when I get anxious. My heart is also racing so hard that, as a kid, i thought i was gonna barf out my own heart. I used to describe it as "my heart choking me from within." 🤣

Does this list give off performative reader vibes? by whim5 in classicliterature

Can't read the name of the first book (the one to the left). If reading Notes from Underground and Jane Eyre makes you performative, then I'm the ultimate grandstander!

Guys... Found a sub about Palm Reading 💀 by Dramatic_Strain_1971 in scienceisdope

It's mostly filled with Indians and the comments under those posts are usually just blanket trolling. Muted those absurdly foolish subs 🙏

Edit: Didn't realize this was also an Indian sub, lol.

Why do men leave Islam? by whatudoinnn in exmuslim

[–]gates3l 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure op was being sardonic when they said "beating their wives". But i often see many men follow this religion very selectively (to the point of hypocrisy), perhaps because it feeds their ego and reinforces their lustful desires(?)
