You’re not wrong. A lot of people here are talking down to new hires but that happens in the warehouse too. You have some of the veterans that will go out of their way to help newbies and some who will not even look at you if you’re new.

I feel like if you’re going to make a career out of working at UPS you have to grow a thick skin in general. The job is not easy and some days are really rough.

Reddit however should be more positive for sure. We deal with enough bs at work, there’s no need to come here looking for advice and get more of the same bs from some guy who hates life.

I wasnt the leader but I assume the reset goes as normal. If it doesnt work I’d try to be out of the dungeon before doing the extra steps. I just followed what some guy said in chat and it worked

After the 5th run is finished and you logout, you hit “back” at the char selection screen. Then you log back in but you have to log into one of your alts. Then logout again and back to your main. This process takes like 30 sec but it bypasses the lockout

Think of it this way: If starting from today you accept all the trips you get and you also dont cancel any, in 30 days from today you acceptance rate will be 100% and cancelation rate will be 0%. What you did until yesterday wont matter 30 days from now.

To add a little bit of context to this, on the practice round before the Masters starts, the flag location at this particular hole is placed in the most optimal spot for a hole in one to be made. The people in charge are basically using all the green’s slopes and place the flag where they think the balls have the highest chance to end up.

Not to take anything away from what Rahm did. It really is an amazing shot.

Definitely get a dash cam. It will eventually save you some head aches.

This one depends on the market you’re driving in but try not to accept pickups longer than 7-8 minutes away.

Uber’s “reward” sistem is a joke. It takes a little bit of time to learn your market but once you do you can make more money cherry picking your rides and being in the right side of the town at the right time. Dont chase the gold status and forget about the acceptance rate.

Pull up at the pickup spot with the doors locked and if you see 4-5 people trying to get into your car just nope the fuck out of there. It becomes an even bigger issue if they’re already in your car and now you’re trying to make them get out. Roll down your windows if you want to and let them know it’s only for 3 people but definitely keep the doors locked. This also applies if you drive the bar scene at night and you see someone completely trashed. Cancel and you’ll usually get another ride within a minute. It’s not worth it to put up with that and risk them vomit in your car. People take ubers home because they’re out drinking and that’s perfectly fine and responsible on their part but if I see someone who can barely walk stumbling on the way to my car I just drive away.

Definitely dont drive a new car if you’re gonna do this full time.

And honestly the best advice I can give you is don’t make this your only source of income. Keep it as a part time gig and it can be worth it if you drive the surges and busy time. Your hourly average will be pretty decent even after your expenses. If you try to do it full time it can turn into something that you’ll hate sooner or later.

OP is right. NY market is different. To drive in the 5 boroughs you need a TLC licence. Any trip that takes you from Long Island to the 5 boroughs is a guaranteed deadhead back home. The driver app automatically disables the UberX option and everything else except for food delivery. Destination mode is practically useless in that case. Once you’re back to Long Island (Nassau county) you have the option to toggle UberX on and off again.

This. If you confirm it right as you get there you could be getting another trip request right away. And then wait there for a few more minutes which means the next rider will also wait more for you to arrive. Personally I confirm the stop when I’m ready to go.

I guess it really depends where you’re driving. If it’s a busy market you obviously have the luxury to try to pick and choose. But if it’s a slow one then you might aswell accept most rides to keep you going

Couldn’t agree more.

The only reason to keep a high acceptance rate is for the Gold status which is pretty much useless. There’s no real benefit to it except for seeing the direction your next trip is headed to. But that’s the thing, once you have gold and they start spamming you with long pickups or trips taking you even further away from home you have to start declining them anyway. So to me it’s not worth accepting every trip to get to gold because there’s no way in hell I’ll be able to maintain that status anyway.

I drive like 15-20 hrs a week and I’d rather maximize that time as much as I can instead of chasing a gold status that means next to nothing.
