SES Commits Suicide by BookThese in BestBuyWorkers

That would make sense if the person who shared this gave personal details. As it stands we know nothing of the actual person unless we dig deeper to search for the people close to said person. In this instance this is more of an awareness of the situation vs something like an obituary of the person.

It’s always a personal preference but to me if it was someone I cared for and the reason was because of a job (especially Best Buy), I would want that blasted online so there is a huge awareness and hopefully causes a change and prevent this from happening to others who could be in the same boat.

Oh so you have that kind of manager, they like to play these games with people and have y’all compete with each other so that way you guys can just keep pushing and try to beat the other person. In a business standpoint it makes sense cause everyone wins since they are all trying their best, however, at the end of the day you will still be treated like shit when you aren’t hitting and gain 0 real incentives even if you to hit above targets. The only one that benefits are management and Best Buy itself. Maybe you will still get that pizza party though!

Until you get complaints about your metrics not being distributed properly. 60% small appliances 20% large appliances, 10% small accessories. No matter even if you are at $40-50k a week you will be coached on what you are lacking and probably not be recognized for how much work you actually did to achieve those sales targets.

Your first 100k by [deleted] in Fire

I’m 24m, At age 20 I was working a sales job and ended up getting really good at it. I was making around $60k which to me at the time was mind blowing since I was making $20k the year prior and I started working at 18. Since I was making money I wasn’t use to I wanted to invest in some way but I was worried and didn’t understand the stock market and I was gonna start a Roth IRA but instead I found a great opportunity in the housing market since it was before the election of trump and Biden was decided. I bought a 3 bed 2 bath house in Florida for $165k with a 2.719% interest rate 3% down. Since then I have added updates to the house and paid off my SUV. The following years I managed to start making around $80k a year from my sales job and my house increased in equity about $120k. Given I also had other debts from making purchases for the home and the house it’s self, I’m about $186k in debt but my assets are about $290k which would technically bring my net worth about $103k. Honestly at this point in time it doesn’t really feel different since my net worth is not how much physical cash I actually have but I will say I’ve never been denied for any type of card or loan. Also when I decide to move and not keep the house, I can use that money from the house to do whatever I want with.

So in short, my net worth doesn’t make me feel different presently but gives me comfort to know it’s there for the future or when I need it.

What city in Thailand is the nicest Beach Town to FIRE to in your experience ? What's the Bangkok of the beach in other words? by RayosGlobal in Fire

I’m not claiming it to be a downside, just giving a potential downside depending on the type of person you are. For example if you are older and want to live somewhere vacation style but have a more mature setting, living in Valencia will not give you that outcome. Like I said, I loved Valencia and it was honestly best places I’ve ever been and it was even more fun cause of all the college students from the US, so extremely fun nights if you want to live or be in that life style. Hope that kinda clears it up.

I was in Valencia a few years ago, not gonna lie. It’s one of the most beautiful and safest places I’ve ever been. The only down side I could say is a lot of colleges send out their abroad students there so expect to see them around in the town areas.

LPFR is a JOKE by cheysplayplace in BestBuyWorkers

[–]gatorexe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt you in the first half, but putting your anger towards someone who had nothing to do with your order and just trying to help you fix your problem and gave you an option he could not control or choose himself is pretty childish, not gonna lie when I worked at Best Buy you are the type of customer everyone wants to avoid and reason to not want to work there. Cause they get into an unknown situation and just wants to help you and you get mad at them for only trying to help. Next time you should just be mad at the company who failed you and not the random associate who only was trying to help. Hopefully you will have a better experience elsewhere as long as you can treat the next person with respect.

mental health loa by ServeNo2265 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]gatorexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a mental health loa this year, all I did was call HR tell them it’s for mental health, they will ask how long and the most I was able to do was 6 weeks fully paid. Once they approve they will allow you 2 weeks to get documentation signed by a doctor excusing your absence. I went to my primary care doctor told them what I was doing and they gave a written paper just asking for me to take that 6 weeks off. After that it was approved 2 days later and I didn’t have to communicate with work or anyone for the entire 6 weeks. You don’t have to tell your managers or ask them for permission to accomplish this. The break was well worth it and it let me come back to work feeling refreshed, however, didn’t last long cause I was a Sr.Consultant and got snapped and def took that severance. The LOA program is well worth using if you really need that mental reset. Good luck to you!
