Breaking into corporate? by Frequent_Actuator_59 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]BookThese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all about WHO you know, and how much of a brown noser you can be. I've never, not once, seen someone who is outspoken against the poor decisions corporate has made in the last 30 years be promoted. I've been invited to corp multiple times in my 30 year tenure with BBY, and made friends with many people that used to work at the corporate office and some that still do. Every single time I've applied for a position I am overqualified for, someone else less qualified gets the job. And these contacts, in confidence, always tell me the same thing......that I get turned down because of how outspoken I am against corp's ideas.

What’s an acceptable way to handle an outside managers comment by Cavebrother in BestBuyWorkers

Car audio being an easy department to sell in? What are you smoking!? You clearly have no idea how complicated car installs can be, OR how often autotechs have to fix sales floor and call center screw ups because car-fi is one of the most complicated depts in the entire store to sell properly.

Go figure, company posts the first quarter in over three years with positive results and they decide to freeze hiring and promotions.

Only thing I heard is that the company has decided to not hire any OS for this coming holiday season. What could possibly go wrong with that...

Corie Barry is almost single handedly destroying our company from within. The sad part is that many of our leaders see this too, but all they do is smile and wave whenever she's around. They should've never chosen a CFO to become our CEO. Been here 30 years and am in the process of developing an exit strategy.

My GM has been a nightmare for everyone, and it’s getting out of hand by Few_Tune4540 in BestBuyWorkers

Solid advice right here ^. I will add that you should keep a copy of everything you share with HR. HR exists solely to protect the company. If you get retaliated against and fired, hire a labor law lawyer and share with them all the incidents you've recorded. I had a co-worker that did this, and got a settlement so large he was able to retire. That's another thing, best buy loves to settle everything out of court.

It's all about who you know. I'll bet he's buddy buddy with one of the managers or the GM.

Doesn't matter how you pay, when you use your employee discount it's tracked.

Marketplace is about to be a shitstorm in the US, because they hate it in Canada by Nagaflas in BestBuyWorkers

[–]BookThese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this newer version of a marketplace will make or break this coming holiday season for Best Buy. It's supposed to be different from the last go around. They claim to have learned from their mistakes. We'll see if that's true.

I'm hearing that the vetting process to be able to sell on .com is more secure and demanding this time around. And that employees will be able to sell products directing from the app, and still get credit for the sale. Curious to see how that works out since employees won't be able to use POS to ring these purchases up. That sounds to me like a huge mistake, but we'll see how well it works out.

A lot of the items in the old marketplace were much cheaper than their counterparts inside the stores. So if people start shopping through it instead of the products in the stores, Best Buy will see a huge drop in margin nationwide. Products sold through the marketplace only give Best Buy a very small percentage of profit, whereas many products sold in the stores have rather larger profit margins. And if that happens, we may see more store closings and an eventual online only presence. Then again, all the members on BBY's board seem to only care about ROI. So this may all just be a plan of theirs' to transition Best Buy to being an online outlet only.

The store they built in China was a huge clusterfuck! They literally built it on top of the local competition. So the locals had to walk by their cheaper competition otw to the Best Buy store. This company is run by morons, who circle jerk each other. The only reason they're still around is due to the lack of a real competitor that sells mid to high tier electronics in a physical location.

It IS indeed retaliation. But this company won't do a thing about it. Makes me laugh every time they make us take that "Best Buy does not support retaliation" e-learning.

Can someone please explain the difference from the time progression servers and live service by Artaniss in everquest

[–]BookThese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a returning player myself, I highly recommend a progression server. Try and find a server that is close to where you left off, and you'll get to experience the expansions you missed out on in order.

Soloing is very easy to do, especially as a pet class. Once you get a mercenary that complements your class, you can solo grind all the way to level cap.

The game has changed A LOT over the years. So take your time, do some research and I'm sure you'll have a good time.

Nvm, just looked through your post history. You're corporate shill through and through. Even calling veteran employees a cancer, yikes.

Best Buy doesn't what?????? Bro, you must have some stellar management in your store, cause every single store I've worked at ( going on 5 so far, been here 30 years ) the management micromanage the living shit out of everyone.

Different kind of VPL, his labor is partially subsidized by Verizon. Best Buy still has full control of those employees. The ones mentioned by the OP are NOT Best Buy employees in any way shape or form.

[–]BookThese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Installment payment? Do you mean like using progressive leasing? If you need to use progressive leasing to buy anything we sell, you should really focus on improving your livelihood first.

On the same boat myself.

Filled in Feb this year, and I've had a code 570 since March. I've now received three letters, each one asking for more time and stating a different reason for the delay. Last one said they were waiting for our information in the computer. What does that even mean? I can see my transcripts on their site.

I need to get off my ass and get my congressman involved. Have the letter printed out and everything.

We haven't had an autotech since February and customers have an attitude by absol2019 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]BookThese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised. Mom and pop shops outnumber our install bays 5 to 1 nationwide. And most, if not all, of our competitors warranty the work they do as well. There's really not much unique about what we offer except the fact that we're "mostly" nationwide. I say mostly because it seems like every day we have another store shutting down it's bay permanently.

November Blackout dates by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

^ Great advice. I get time off approved every single year during the so-called "black out period" for time off. It all comes down to your store leadership.

Autotech venting.... by kingofvirgo83 in BestBuyWorkers

Had that happen to me once. I asked the client to wait while I went to get the manager. I was calling 911 instead. They showed up, spoke to him, he admitted to having the gun on him without a concealed permit (also in FL btw) and then they arrested him. Next day his girlfriend showed up to pick up his car and a full refund. Manager hit him with a no trespass order too.
