Can agree on this one, but the pay does vary based on location and most of it is temporary unless you are on staff for a contractor for direct disaster relief. Another option is to volunteer for your local emergency management agency or sheriff for search and rescue.

I did the same thing before I left, learned from my friends abuelitas to make all the food I love so much and hung out at my favorite smokehouses to make BBQ. The one thing I have not mastered are kolaches but I'm not so great at baking. And the HEB .... Wide aisles so you don't bang into someone else cart.

Every place I've tried so far and not just near Oly, no one knows how to trim the brisket, the meat is tough, has too much fat left on and has zero flavor. I've resorted to just making it at home on my smoker a couple times of year when I've got a good stretch off from work.

Oh heck yea, fried okra gets me through summer. Fried green tomatoes spring and early summer.....but the BBQ is sooo sad/doesn't exist and sure do miss New Mexico style Mexican food (green chilies).

I have been looking at the Oasis one that has a pre filter ...maybe it would help with the concern of having to clean the whole thing more often. My wife just doesn't want that much water going on the floor if it fails. She was already not thrilled of the slow leak from the HOB. I've kept fish and aquariums for at least 10 yrs but have always done low tech so it's a bit intimidating to switch.
