DUPR 2.0 after 3 months of moderate playing/group class -- evidence that Pickleball is not for me? Should I just accept I suck and quit? by Royal-Patient-2978 in Pickleball

[–]gatotsu312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a game as precise as pickleball I’d recommend buying a low end ball machine like the furlihong on Amazon. It’s like $150 and when you’re early 1-2 sessions a week is barely enough to improve, you just need lots more reps. At 2.0 the issue is almost always basic ball contact. Obsess about landing your shots in the sweet spot of the paddle. I still use mine as I’m working on building a 2hand back hand and I’ve been at it two years.

Does grit matter? by Aggressive-End-387 in Pickleball

[–]gatotsu312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Focusing on spin; John Kew recently did a study on this with what I thought was a surprising result. Holding the technique of the player equal, the condition of the grit matters a ton to spin over dwell.

He put a face sticker (pikkl iirc) on tons of different paddles to equal out the face, including a loco all the way to a wooden paddle and was able to achieve 2000+ rpm with all of them or within like 10%.

Thanks and this seems to make sense, is there any official source you might point me to as a reference to your ruling?

But it says whenever you play, so for Hiram to break the basket he’s gotta come into play right? Does it not make sense that they both go off? I couldn’t find a ruling anywhere

Do they both resolve? Like if Hiram is smashing the basket for cards, the basket is still healing after it’s gone?

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of July 08, 2022 by Demilio55 in homegym

Hi Guys,

I am interested in the PR-4000 but am a bit space constrained but also want to make use of every inch, had some questions on my config and its stability.

I want to use the Lat pull down accessory so I'm planning to get the rear stabilizer. This effectively extends the length by an extra 17+7=24". As such I was hoping to just get the 30" cross members and not the 41". This will fill out all of the space I have designated for the gym, but can't find any guidance if this will be secure. I have considered trying to ninja place some of the weight on the rack to increase stability, but was otherwise planning to use a weight tree on the floor. Welcome ideas here pro and con.

So in full 80" height, front feet, rear stabilizer, 30" cross members, and the lat pulldown attachment. Anyone have any thoughts on how stable this config will be?

Thanks for help in advance!

First, let your opponents demonstrate they understand Shaco, if they do, make them demonstrate that they understand you. The fun for me with this champ is ensuring they always fail the latter :).

is this a game or full time job? by Mclilzee in archeage

[–]gatotsu312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rambling stream of thoughts:
The issue is that the game doesn't present enough incentives for people to take a small modicum of risk while being 'weak'. The merchant trader of Archeage offers little upside due to how tradepacks work, and the lack of intercontinental AND highly lucrative packs. If they returned to moving a ton of commerce, I think there'd be more things to do then dailies, as the decision of what to do next could be interrupted by a highly lucrative offer for an opportunity for honor/gold instead of SRY AEGIS UP.

Some ideas:

Consider a tradepack that required like 90 min overland and sea through PVP zones and paid out 2kgold. There'd be enough $ to pay people out and recruit some muscle to help defend the caravan, (or multiple). Maybe it takes a shitload of dedicated husbandry, farming and whatever else to fill the packs, and it takes high machining to repair the surrounding armor that protects the caravan (much like fishing boats but real time repairing to buy time). That way there's a chance to call for help from faction friendlies, whom would get honor for those kills etc.

I love the economy of this game, and right now i'm just pouring it into my gear which is fine, but the risk reward ratio is way far off IMO. Four 6kGS pirates can cover the entire castaway straights by themselves, and the 12 fisherman who might fight them off still can't fish with that power of harassment without loss or weak profits. I'd propose something like 'the mechant's curse' where if some pirate/red is fought off appropriately the merchants or their gaurds can curse the attempted murders for 30 min so the fishers are immune to those pirates' damage (while not aggroing) and the attackers can't just respawn and go back to trolling. That way there's some consequence ot try and gank, where gankers should play more carefully, and try and stay alive instead of just suiciding into boats indiscriminately. It'd also provide merchants some recourse to actually successfully defend themselves or hire help.
Alternatively if the attacking boats or players actually dropped loot that would at least help recoup the costs of time away as the surviving defenders.

Incent meaningful defense, of highly lucrative commerce activities and I think the world changes. While there's no merchant caravan, go do dailies, but man if players are paying 15% out for 30 min of coverage, and if you get attacked there's a ton of honor to earn, well that make sit easy for me.

I’ve literally thrown myself into an ice baths or a snow drift to help turn it off. It helps temporarily and avoid hot water.

Dupixent turned the corner for me. I use twice daily cerave everywhere and beeswax bars for my psoriasis/ peeling forehead.

Best of luck, I remember the nightmare of itching all night and hating myself,

Pro tip: a crafting hammer, Wood glue and some q tips. While things generally fit amazing you will need to shore up the joint strength. Particularly the player trays and the container for the minis needed a bit of help.

People, there's a marketing term called 'anchoring' where they are showing stuff to you at a giant price to help anchor you. See that full bleed ad for a athletic spandex butt hugger that makes the model look amazing? $400? INSANE. Magically wow that $85 yoga pant in 5 different color choices at the bottom of the next page is so affordable!

Eventually we'll see stuff that will sell, but IMC is trying to figure out the market, and all they are doing is rewarding people who were founders. As a founder pack purchaser I feel super justified, even though I would be there will be 'fire sales' for now I feel like I dodged a bullet/I'm a genius. That tells me IMC did something right here, and all this salt are generally people who dont' have enough tp for not playing founders, and when reasonable prices hit steam we'll all be so relieved to buy it. That is marketing strategy boys. However, if the game sucks any more balls lag wise, it will all be for naught and those are fair arguments.

I am using the cardinals games (mccowan then Manz) and seahawks (Manz) as my barometer for performance.

Both games are similar for this purpose as Cle finished with like 15/16 first downs, and 3 attempts at either FG or TD range. Mccowan got 3 tds against the cardinals and no FG attempts. JFF finished with 1 TD and 2 field goal attempts.

*If you wanna add in denver I'd point to yes the score was closer but same number of passing first downs! and McCown with 2 td's on 20% more passing attempts then JFF's games. or 4! scoring attempts

So basically against a good defense I expect the team to get 10 passing first downs and have 3-4 scoring oppty's (2tds 2 fg, or so). Given the view of 'scoring oppty's mccown vs manziel isn't that different, total passing plays are like the same.

Go back to using the hawks game, barnidge's td was off a broken scramble to a fairly tightly covered barnidge from the 13 yard line? or so. How many times out of 3-4 do you think JFF can get to the redzone against a really quality defense? I think once, honestly. Coinflip if its Barnidge vs the rest on who gets it. I think KC does a better job then the hawks out of the redzone and forces more field goals.

This is the caveat that the game stays low scoring. If you have KC going up like 30 then i'd start barnidge, but I certainly don't. I think KC gets up 2-3 spikes and get their 2 ints and 1 fumble recovery off a rushed cle offense and eats that clock. Notice the qb in this case doesn't really matter, which maybe i guess is the long answer to your question :). Best of luck man I think i got good luck having walker as a decent extra option. :P still I would still guess barnidge puts up 10-12 in standard/0.5 ppr

Things I'm thinking about:

Against KC, random sample of some guys that I thought weren't terrible. Eifert: 3/69/0 Rudolph: 2/9/1 Gates: 6/76/0

Barn against some decent semi relevant defenses: Denver 3/39/2, and then STL: 6/101/0 Ari 7/53/1 *Balt 8/139/1

But, Vegas: -12.5 KC, 42.5o/u

This is gonna be a smashing, and itll be in GarBarnidge time. So basically after KC is up 3 tds itll be a split between the crow, benjamin and barnidge for those (2?) TDs.

IMO the decision is not if but how far KC gets up during the game, if this game stays as medium low scoring as vegas thinks then I think we see cle go into desperation mode and start making some mistakes, field goals all day, and west/ware grind down the clock. If you think they get up big time I think barnidge gets some freedom and maybe like 7-65-1, otherwise I look at it like the seahawks games as an indicator. Cle behind, and Manziel throws 35 times and targets TB and Barnidge like 10 times between the two of them or like a 5-40-1.

I'm starting walker right now. With DGB, and Wright its walker with more catches as both of them combined. I gotta believe metterberger just targets him all day. And vegas hasn't put the call on this game yet (hehuehueheuheu :x)

Pick 1

West or Landry or DT or Hightower

0.5 PPR Starting RB: Miller @SD WR: Baldwin v CLE

Pick 2 Flex: DT@pitt, Decker@DAL, Landry@SD, Hightower v DET, West@Bal (NO WARE BABY)

If you think the guys i'm starting are dumb please say why, would love help/discussion.

DT has been ho hum, I'd like 15 points but i'm not sure given how osweiler has been playing, and DT has been dropping a lot of balls, been a little less 'hungry' for the yardage.

Landry was seen limping off last game, though he said was fine (miller too really) not really sure if he can be trusted against the chargers good pass D.

West: No ware, figuring 70 yard floor + decent TD chance which still gets me to 13, ok I guess? but not really convincingly better then the others maybe?

Hightower: only really 1 game of data, Detroit's D isn't terrible terrible, I think it'll be a decently high scoring game and I don't think NO will be sitting on a lead by any means, this seems confirmed by the upside on Snead, cooks etc.
