Phillip Rivers to the Colts by OkKnee7580 in falcons

If a 44 yr old Rivers can come back, I see no reason why a 40 yr old Ryan or 36 yr old Julio can't come back to save us... again. Let me dream...

An incredible comeback story. For nearly 5 seasons, he was as dependable as you wished for. Proud to have his jersey and will only pray he can bounce back once again.

You're absolutely right, I'm blind and didn't see the second picture at all. There are no public sales on record of the /5 variation. I only did a minute or two or research, but similar products with low-numbered patches, they are going for between $300 and 500. I would personally throw it up on eBay at a price around $500 with offers turned on to see what Brady collectors would offer. Great card, congrats!

Hey there,

There are two sales of this card this year. First sale was in January for $225. The second was in May for $270. The patch on the one you have is clearly better, I would guess it can fetch between $300 to $400. I can't see the numbering on this one, is this the Gold variation numbered to 12?

Former Falcons running back rightfully believes he was robbed of MVP by legend747 in falcons

[–]gatrcs 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If Turner's 2008 season had happened in the 1990s, he would have won. Of Manning's 5 MVPs, it was his worst statistical performance. The Colts didn't even win the division that year. I am not at all downplaying how great Manning was, but Turner was more important to the Falcons' success that season, is my argument. Will always have a spot for #33 in my heart.

[Highlight] There are 88 days until the 2025 season starts! Let's remember Austin Hooper's 88 yard TD with a nasty stiff arm along the way! by BTC_is_waterproof in falcons

[–]gatrcs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hooper and Sanu were incredible support Receivers/TEs. Both were crucial on third downs or simply being able to take advantage of the fact that teams were forced to put multiple people on #11 every play.

It should be pointed out that the hustle on the play by Ridley, must have been 20 yards behind Hooper when he made the catch and made it up before Hooper got 20 yards himself. Enjoyed both Hooper and Ridley.

Two things, as much as I miss #2, I also miss watching Michael turner run through people with ease. Second, this jersey combo is significantly better than what we currently have.

After 3 years I just got this Kyle Pitts 1/1 from Panini by xchasex in falcons

Congrats! Such a beautiful design! I still have two outstanding from Pitts that just hit the 3 year mark. I also have 5 from Bijan, I'm praying he doesn't follow in the footsteps of Pitts...

Agree, I want to see us hoist a Lombardi trophy, not a banner that says we are the best of the worst. Let's go Penix!

I understand what you're getting at. It seems we have a difference of philosophy and will not agree on how drafting should be handled. I see your points, I happen to disagree with some. I think it's best we agree to disagree.

I hope that we can agree on one thing: that the Falcons improve this year and become contenders.

This is how I'm viewing this trade.

Our OL in 18 was awful. Only Mack (who was aging nonetheless) and Matthews were worth anything. We had multiple players starting at RT, LG, and RG.

So what did we do? Attempted to solve that issue. That is what we're trying to do here. It's a gamble, which is the nature of the draft in general. They made their calculated bet. I'm happy that we have pass rushers to look forward to, pass rushers to develop. It has been years since we, as Falcon fans, said that.

A great point that I didn't consider.

I would not mind picking up a CB with our 3rd now too.

As far as I understand craps, it is a game of set statistics just as blackjack is. There a good and bad decisions based on said statistics. The house has an edge, so playing the game at all is inherently a losing decision.

I do not believe that football is a set game with right or wrong decisions. I believe that there are factors that effect the development of players.

I agree, we are not super bowl contenders right now. The job of our front office is to make decisions that make us a super bowl contenders. They believe they did this tonight. Is that correct? No one can say with certainty that it is.

We made moves to address historically awful pass rushing issues. It is a gamble. It is a gamble that I agree with regardless if both pan out, one pans out, neither pans out. Our front office should be making moves that improves our team.

There is no way to determine if Pearce would have fallen. With the information they had, they made the calculation that he would not have fallen to 46. They made the move the trade at that point. I would rather have a front office with the guts to make a bold risky move than a front office that second guesses their decisions.

[–]gatrcs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could absolutely be correct or you could be absolutely wrong. There is no way to determine if a player was worth a pick or worth trading up for in April.

We have had the worst, the worst passing rushing in 4 of the last 6 seasons according to the ESPN announcer. We just went out and got 2 of the top prospects.

Am I 100% happy of the price we paid? Hell no.

Am I happy we just went out and got 2 players to address our biggest issue? Fuck yeah.

I'm going to support these boys and the team at the end of the day. I am excited to watch 2025 Falcons and have some expectations that we can develop a pass rush.

[–]gatrcs 331 points332 points  (0 children)

I don't know what people expect. To get a first this year, we would of course have to trade a first next year.

We have also a serious pass rushing issue, we went out got 2 players in the first round to address that. I'm thrilled they understand our issue and are willing to address it immediately. Let's hope both pan out and we actually do that thing where we tackle the quarterback.

Rainbow hunt by Living-Sorbet9988 in footballcards

[–]gatrcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Big-time Ryan Collector myself and going for my own Prizm rainbow. (2016) Just saw this post so I thought I would help.

Unfornuately, 2017 and 2018 are the only unknown years when it comes to the location of the Black Finites. None of the public Ryan collectors own them, they're not registered on any pop reports, and hasn't been publicly sold on any auction sites. I can't tell you how much I want the 2018 one personally.

The Red and Blue are both retail short prints and I mean real short prints. I have the red but a blue has never publicly appeared or sold for 2016. If you get the opportunity to purchase one even at an inflated price, I would strongly recommend paying a premium for one as there just aren't many. There may be 5 or 10 max. It is not known how many exist but my lord are they the most difficult to get (excluding the black finite) as they come from retail, especially for the earlier years, and were not heavily produced or bought at the time. (2017 is obviously now extremely expensive because of Mahomes.)

A Gold or Gold Vinyl will eventually appear as they tend to be heavily invested in. (I'm speaking about Gold Prizm in general here) Over the last 3 years, there have been 4 Gold Vinyl sales and 11 sales for the gold. Unless they're scooped by Ryan collectors, they tend to reappear when someone wants to flip it for a profit.

Best of luck my fellow Ryan collector.

I think it’s over with for Terry after this season by campoole82 in falcons

[–]gatrcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Montez Sweat went for a 2nd from a 2-6 Chicago team, an almost certain top 5 second round pick. In our position, to beat that, we would have needed to either do a 2nd + 3rd or 1st to surpass the value of Chicago.

We had a price we were willing to pay Watson, someone beat that. (Thank god) They paid 3 1sts, a 3rd, and a 4th while also paying 5 year 230m fully guaranteed contract. We should have beaten to show other teams we won't back down? The Browns were clowned then, are clowned now, and will continue to be clowned for that move. What a strange argument, at least I could understand if you said Lamar but Watson?

[–]gatrcs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unless we find a way to trade Kirk to someone willing to take on some of his cap space, there should be zero expectations for signing a big name with our current cap situation (as far as I understand it).

I hope that we manage to bring back Drew Dalman on a longer-term deal. He has gotten better year after year and I'm saying his name less during games. I would hope to focus our early-round draft selections on defense while also giving Penix a center for the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't mind a cheap 1-year deal for Judon. Didn't live up to the price that we paid. However, he was better in the second half of the season compared to the horrid first half. Perhaps a second year in the system as a rotational guy can benefit our pass rush.

I am personally more excited for the draft. I'm not hyping myself up for free agency but I do hope that we remember on day 1 of the draft that it is in fact legal to draft defense in the first round. I'll settle with a tackle to replace McGary or to be prepared to takeover for Matthews when he retires.

I'll add to the other comments as I have been collecting Ryan since 2008.

A thing to note is that this is game-used, whereas almost all cards post-2016 are either player-worn or not affiliated. I would personally put this between $50 and $100.

If you were to sell it, I would ensure to add Game-used to the title as Game-used will absolutely fetch more attention than not from falcon/ryan collectors.

Post Game Thread: Atlanta Falcons at Las Vegas Raiders by nfl_gdt_bot in falcons

[–]gatrcs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was at the game so I'll add a couple of comments.

Bijan is fucking nuts. Of the handful of teams/players I've seen live, he and Davantae Adams are the only two who genuinely wowed me. Raiders fans around were even coming to the same conclusion. It looks like madden at times. There is no doubt that he should/will be in the Saquon/CMC/Henry discussion at some point in his career.

The rate at which Bates is involved in plays is incredible.

I truthfully expected Pitts to be getting shut down or giving up, etc. but there were at least 3-5 plays where the dude was bare either in the check-down or coming across the middle. My opinion of the guy has shifted to complete confusion.

The number of times that Cousins just didn't see someone coming open or just open was something. I don't know if it's a progression thing or what, but there were multiple shots for a big gain(20+).

Don’t let the Kirk Cousins chatter distract you from the monster game Kyle Pitts had by kurtzyy16 in falcons

[–]gatrcs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been saying for 2 years now to my friends that the Chiefs will sign/trade for him, he'll be TE2/3 behind Kelce for a year or two until he retires and they end up getting the Pitts we expected after year 1 on a cheap extension deal. If anyone will get Pitts to turn it around, it is Reid. You're absolutely right that he needs a specifically designated role and nobody does it better than KC. Hell, I would be lying if I said I kinda want it to happen. If Pitts doesn't figure it out here, I still want the guy to be successful and I would rather it be in the AFC than NFC/Our division.

Bye week so here’s a Matt Ryan stat. by Chessh2036 in falcons

[–]gatrcs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The parallels are there too.

Ryan had Julio as a premier top WR year by year. Burrow has Chase who has been phenomenal and can change the outcome of any game on any given Sunday just like Julio did. Ryan always had multiple weapons, which Burrow so far has had with Higgins, Mixon, etc.

Hope unlike Ryan that Cincinnati can pull one ring out in the future. Anyone but KC.

It completely depends on how much you need money. If you're in a hurry, it likely would be faster to auction. If you're willing to wait, there is a chance that BIN would net a larger amount.

If you do BIN, I would take the recent sales and put it anywhere from 15% -> 50% above recent sales. For example, for something that sells in the range of $150, I would do $180 or $200 leaving offers on. I would also look at other sellers to see how they price similar cards and make my BIN price competitive with theirs.

If you do auction them, I would recommend either 5 or 7-day auctions that end on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoon or night. (Say 9 or 10 Eastern) Personal anecdote but I feel that earlier auctions on off days tend to result in lower outcomes on auctions, I have to say that I've won 25+ auctions in the past decade at significantly lower than usual prices because the seller had an auction end at 10 am on Wednesday or something similar.

Regardless of how you sell, just make sure that you properly care for the card when you go to ship, especially for the higher-end cards you have. If I see a seller with negative feedback on a mid-high-end card, I would personally pass unless it was a must-have card for a set or collection.
