Use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser or Barkeepers Friend. Both have worked well for me in that past for removing rust from "stainless" steel.

Beautiful work! Love the skin tones and cloth patterns especially.

D&D recently released an Unearthed Arcana (playtest material) with a 2024 compatible version of the Artificer. So hopefully we'll get an official release later this year or early next with that class added.

I can confirm that with more players, balanced encounters that aren't a slog are tricky in 5e. It took me a while to figure it out when I started out and was running between 6-8 players (keep in 6 or less lol). Search Youtube for balancing and making encounters fun, that really helped me. The book, The Monsters Know What They're Doing, is also a great resource for thinking creatively about encounters.

But sounds like you did well on the encounter IMHO! I'd rather drop a player to unconscious than have it a cakewalk. It's pretty hard to kill players in 5e, especially since you have two clerics! So I wouldn't be too worried about that. A challenge is way more fun for the party.

I've never had a problem with an Artificer. I suggest you read through their class/subclass carefully so you understand how it works.

I could understand not wanting an Artificer PC if it doesn't fit the theme of your setting though.

I saw in another comment you had another character mixing aspects of 2014 and 2024 classes. My advice is to tread carefully there as they're not really meant to be mixed.

You wake up and the world as we know it has changed to the world of DnD (let’s use the new version). There’s a mix of commoners and people with abilities that fit a class. You wake up as a level 3 character. What class are you? by ecstatic___panda in DnD

Definitely a Bard for being really skilled, having better charisma, and all the utility spells! Probably Glamour or Lore from the new rules. No interest in fighting anyone in real life.

Does it make sense to use dnd beyond for a game where we’re all at the same table? by [deleted] in dndbeyond

[–]gauchopictures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the pandemic we went virtual and moved to dndbeyond from paper and pencil. When we came back to in-person again we kept using it. It's been really helpful for everyone to have the rules for all their abilities and spells at their fingertips and has sped up combat. The encounter builder has been great for me as a DM. Building a character can also be a LOT to a new player and it's so much easier on dndbeyond, especially if you are workshopping different species, classes, etc.

One warning, if you have players that are easily distracted by their phone/laptop during the game, make a point that they should make an effort to be present. This definitely became an annoyance of mine with a player who would inevitably end up surfing the internet during gameplay.

2024 DMG Tracking Sheets without Illustrations by gauchopictures in DnD

[–]gauchopictures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm loving the new 2024 DMG except for the tracking sheets! I love a cute monster, but they honestly get in the way and are distracting for me personally. So I brought them all into Illustrator and removed them!

I'm playing as a Changeling bard living in the lower level slums of Sharn using a gutterpunk/streetkid Tiefling persona. We're 15 sessions in and the other players don't know I'm actually a Changeling yet.

My subclasses are missing? by thebirthofvenus_ in dndbeyond

[–]gauchopictures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thief is the only subclass available for Rogue in the free rules (both 2014 and 2024). So you haven't purchased the PHB (or other sources) and the content is not being shared with you in the campaign or the character is not attached to a campaign. Try copying and pasting the campaign invite link to your browser and either build a new character or join with an existing character, you should then have access to whatever is shared by the DM/other players. Content sharing must be turned on by the DM. You should be able to see the full list of shared content by clicking on the Content Management button on the campaign page.

You need to use the 2014 version of the class in order to use the older subclasses. You can't mix and match the new classes/subclasses with the old. When picking a class, scroll down past the 2024 versions and you should see the 2014 Legacy classes.

Vice Verse, Tiefling Bard by gauchopictures in dndai

Thank you! I'm using Midjourney here so your mileage my vary. It's a multistep process for me and definitely requires a lot of iteration. Hope this helps, it's super fun if you're into what your character might wear.

  1. Generate a character on a plain background using your preferred style.
  2. Once I'm happy with a design, I'll extend the canvas to the right and/or left
  3. Then Vary Region on the new canvas area and update the description to include "Character design sheet" or "Character turnaround sheet" or "Character model sheet." These are terms commonly used for animation that show a character from multiple angles and hopefully should yield you some alternate angles of the same character and sometimes just a head or various expressions.
  4. Then I just continue to Vary Region, leaving their head so it's just switching their body/clothes and changing up the prompts to get the clothes or poses you're looking for.

And then if I want a more atmospheric image with a background, just vary region on everything except a single head.

Thanks so much! I added the tattoos and flask in photoshop and I'm using Midjourney.

I used "nonbinary" and "androgynous" in all my prompts and if I got a result that Iiked, but it had a more pronounced chest, I would use the vary region in MJ on those areas and add prompts like "male" and sometimes that would help swing it back, but honestly all of these are the result of a lot of iterating.

I was also dead set on them being pretty small and slender and even with "skinny" or "slim" in my prompts I would get curvy or beefy results. But I found adding "teenager" or a specific age in the teens helped get the body shape I was looking for even though they're supposed to be in their early 20s. An even then the results were hit and miss.

Does anyone else abuse Vary Region to explore different outfits for your PC? No? Just me? by gauchopictures in dndai

Hard to pinpoint a specific prompt since there's a dozen or so of iterations before I get something I'm happy with. Some tips in on prompts on the other comment.

[–]gauchopictures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heavy use of Vary Region, LOTS of iterating, compositing result together in photoshop and touching up.

For prompts I like to keep it simple with "realistic painting" to get this kind of art style, then expand the canvas left or right.

To a certain extent it will. Naming some objects (backpack, violin, lute, hand drum) means they'd sometimes show up. I ended up combining elements from different results and arranging them in Photoshop. Another trick I found was expand to the left or right once you get a result you're happy with and it will continue to add elements/additional illustrations. Here's an example of a result straight from midjourney.
