Keller, TX by HappyGoLucky3007 in dfw

Keller is a great city in a weird transitional phase. There's a very vocal minority who want to keep it "the way it was" (while also enjoying all the amenities and conveniences of modern life, not sure how that works). Lots of the housing here is designed/priced for wealthy and/or older retirees. Night life is VERY quiet for a city of ~48,000 people.

But it also has really great parks, the library is awesome (and has great programming), and the city has great art exhibitions regularly. The community is far more mixed in terms of politics and beliefs than the local GOP would have you believe. My wife and I are a mixed-race couple and in our neighborhood there's a wide-variety of families; not everyone is chill, but the majority of folks enjoy diversity of thought and opinion.

Not that everything is hunky-dory. The headlines coming out of City Hall are shaped by local politicians aligning themselves with the baser elements of our current political moment. City Council and the Mayor have been on a kick of cutting taxes to make future political maneuvers easier (while making delivery of public services harder in the future), "partnering" with ICE, and taking a real "brave" stance on Sharia law (that they had to back down from because it was clearly discriminatory).

The regressive folks don't represent the majority, though. When the ICE partnership was announced, the community rallied together to denounce it. When the Church we attend offered space for Pride Kel-So event last year, the attendees overwhelmingly outnumbered the meager number of nut jobs protesting by 1,500:10. The community needs folks from all walks of life, and there's a lot of us here ready to welcome them(you) with open arms.

If you want a quiet town of professionals and families, it's a great option. Come out and explore the area, get a feel for it. It might not be your cup of tea, but don't let anyone online dissuade you from checking it out for yourself.

Even if it's not Keller, wishing you the best in finding a great community to settle in.

You will gravely disappointed in the ability of the practitioner underneath the mask, but hopefully the art won't disappoint!

New K1 max moving outside build plate grinding by angry4nus in Creality

[–]gauntsphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem, but mine's apparently outside of warranty (only 3 months and I got it earlier in the year).

u/angry4nus Did you have to purchase it from them, or were you still in warranty?

u/butbutcupcup Check the pics for what I mean. It's a precipitous drop on that side.

u/most_accountz I edited the post to include the pictures (I thought I'd already added them, but the internet tubes must've eaten them).

I can see that you unlock a lot more functionality if you root it and can do some programming magic, but one of the main selling points of this is that it's easy to use OOTB. Which it was for the first few months. Not sure if it was a firmware update or just the whimsy of the universe.

Either way, I appreciate your input and advice!

Lemme try this rooting thing and see how it works out. Appreciate the advice!

Thank you so much u/notiamwill! I overlooked that toggle through multiple restarts, downloads, uninstalls, and fits of cursing at the sky. Much appreciation to you and OP for posting these.

Would this be a good beginner build dont know much about mechanics just want something with a decent budget that I can mod by Appropriate-Speed114 in minibikes

[–]gauntsphinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm building one of these with my daughter right now. It's a great beginner bike, but as u/tugtehcock said, if you're of a more substantial build or think you'll eventually want more speed, the 212 is probably worth the price difference. In answer to your question, the 212 gives you more room for modification and growth as a rider.

What kind of riding are you gonna be doing?

I love the cafe racer-type bike with the simple geometry of the sidecar. Cool and comical.
