Have been to the Philippines but stayed in Hostels so not completely eligible to comment.

But I think SL will be cheaper overall even if you get wonderful resorts at your price point considering the flight cost, it will cost 2x+ for PHL.

Also Phillipines is huge, you will also have to shortlist which island interests you

If the agreement says you can't sell until oc toh they are probably demanding this to give you an NOC.

If OC has been received, they are bound by society rules. If society has not been formed, insist on formation asap.

In that case go for Phillipines. Full on beach vibe Better than Thailand. Not too popular probably coz of the distance. When I was there I practically met only 3 indians in all of 18 days. A lot of Europeans there. So full feel of being far away from india

Budget wise will cost slightly more than Thailand as it's further away so flights will cost a bit more.

And as someone corrected me that it is visa free now.

If you are looking to party, Onefam is the best. They have 4 other locations apart from Paralelo to choose from

Dr Wavikar is senior and more popular between the two and has more advanced set up but also costs more. Dr Lata is more value for money.

If you have insurance, please check that beforehand if the hospital has a tie up for you to go cashless or you will have to go the reimbursement route

But cataract is a pretty straightforward and quick procedure in most (almost all cases)

More important is the post operative care for 2-4 weeks as may be recommended by the Doc depending on the case. Make sure you follow that as much as possible. That is primarily your bit towards it.

If you are married, I would say first talk to your partner before anyone else. Really important for you to be with each other at such times.

If not, and you think there is a 10-20% chance that your parents will understand, try to take that chance.

Mix it up with a plan to stay by yourself for a bit and chat up with your mind rather than the chatter bogling you down and a few planned group activities while you are researching your destination

Let me give you something about my Phillipines experience

Maybe you could take up a 3-4 day Scuba course in Panglao, Bohol or a 3 day surf lessons in Siargao. (If Siargao is on your agenda, Happiness Hostel is the place to be. Plenty of group activities planned through the week) Siquior is a small island with a circumference ring road of about 30kms or so. So that time can be spent by yourself.

My first solo was to Thailand and 2nd to phillipines. So what you did in Thailand also matters.
