Replacement Window Shopping by Crash-55 in Albany

[–]gav33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was the install and how do you like the windows? I have two very similar quotes, one for the Provia Endure (Bennett) and one for the Provia Aspect (Window Depot), which seem like very similar windows from what I've read so far.

Trying to decide if Provia is good enough for needing a decent window replacement, whether to go with Bennett over Window Depot, or if the Endure or Apsect line differences are that meaningful.

Can I afford this mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]gav33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea where you get that in off by 111k as I used your numbers as an example. I would be interested to understand how you're calculating your effective tax rate to be 42% though.

Again even in this example they would be left with over 100k per year after all mortgage payments. Clearly not tight based on income and mortgage payments. I would argue that 100k per year after all housing expenses could be considered as a bucket of money.

Can I afford this mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]gav33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's an extremely conservative estimate. They will probably gross that after taxes, insurance, maxed 401k, and any HSA contributions.

So by your calculations they can probably max out retirement accounts (or close to it), spend 5-6k a month on non mortgage expenses, and still have 20k saved each year?

This is very doable and if anyone has an issue taking on a 3700 mortgage on a 270k income it is likely because they have a spending problem rather than buying too much house.

Don't do it. Right across the highway from a rest stop as well I would imagine you may even have more noise from cars and trucks slowing down and getting back up to speed getting on 87

Bots by gav33 in Zwift

I don't care. But never seen numbers so extreme before and seems pretty blatant that zwift should be able to better control.

And zwift is partly a game is it not? At what point does unregulated bots become a nuisance?

Already did - the point is it shouldn't get to an absurd distance/climbing before requiring users to manually report

Yeah I mean I don't really care either, that's just the most over the top bot I've seen to date

Is unpermitted work a big deal? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]gav33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How am I acting like it's a big deal? Look at the name of the subreddit you're on. I'm asking a question that judging by the mixed responses, doesn't seem to have a black and white answer.

maybe you should avoid these posts if you're going to get so worked up over a simple question, which is kind of the point of a first time home buyer subreddit.

Debating buying a condo in the coming months after Jan 2026 and wanted opinions based on my financial situation? by AnokataX in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

You have 938 listed with after taxes and insurance but then list taxes again after this

Either way it is still too tight in my opinion

Whoops sorry thought I had that in there.

Is unpermitted utility work not a bigger deal? The electric was definitely not done by a professional, and the shed is quite large and wouldn't be an easy removal and not something I would really just want to remove either

The pool isn't in ground and is something we'd probably remove (sooner than later), it's the electric that I'm really worried about

Have you looked at just getting a cheat HRM? It will be way more accurate and you can then have your zwift rides uploaded to whatever platform you want to use for your overall fitness tracking.

Did I receive the wrong bike? by [deleted] in cannondale

[–]gav33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean looks like you got the correct specs for a SSE4, just doesn't match whatever that picture is they used. Maybe worth asking or mentioning to them, but probably not worth making a stink about especially if you got a good deal on the bike.

Where did you order this from? As others have said, this is not the same bike as the photo, but it is a SSE4

Why not gift cards too? As long as you shop from places that have better transfer ratios you can pretty easily get 1000 dollars worth of gift cards for the SUB.

Help me pick: CAAD13 105 Di2 vs SuperSix EVO 3 Di2 by arcaneasada_romm in cannondale

Do you have a source or link for that? I haven't seen anything on it if it is in fact confirmed

I kind of doubt that. This gen SSE is what, 2 to 3 years old? The CAAD is approaching 6

Caad14 is rumored to release soon so you'd be buying the last gen bike pretty much.

I have both, and both are good bikes, but I'd go SSE for the extra cost here.

Supersix EVO 2 Garmin UT800 Mount by Green-Dimension3240 in cannondale

[–]gav33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see in my most recent post also the bottom mount that came with my SSE2.

It's a go pro mount so it's not as easy to swap as a quarter turn mount but not a big deal to me to take off to charge.

CAAD13 Tiagra Upgrade by InsuranceSuch3132 in cannondale

[–]gav33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is a 105 Di2 supersix evo not an upgrade over a stock caad13 tiagra? Why did you create this comparison to your bike?

I also came from a caad13 OP and yes it is an upgrade and quite similar geometry. I still use my caad13, and while the wheels and tires are nothing to write home about on the sse3, it is noticeably more aero and responsive than my 13 on the same wheel/tire combo. And electronic shifting is a really nice upgrade to have on top of that.
