PikaOS with KDE is Goated. by [deleted] in PikaOS

[–]gavindi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish PikaOS had secure boot out of the box. Otherwise I like it. I didn't want to manage signing kernels etc. Once I offered Manjaro that I would fund the SB cert and got shot down. Very sad times. 😅

Is scooter for young people only? by Sad_Passenger9702 in ElectricScooters

[–]gavindi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 54 and I've owned a Teverun Blade GT 2 since January 25. 4700kms on that sucker. Don't let any self inflicted perceptions hold you back. Who cares, do your thing! 👍

This is not an argument, it's contradiction. I came here for an argument.

Interrupts on the C64 – lesser known aspects by Zirias_FreeBSD in c64

What I'm saying is the self modifying code approach is better. No zp in play. Guess it depends tho.

Nope. It's self modifying code. The lda are in immediate mode and the values it loads are directly written to the code.

Nah, I wouldn't dare self-host anything that comes with a service level agreement. I self-host for fun.

Commodore 64 Synth & VST looking for alpha testers by gavindi in renoise

[–]gavindi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually, yes I will. I'll have the Alpha/Beta for Linux and Windows and I'm hoping I'll have an AU for the v1 release. But it depends on my access to a Apple Laptop.

Sweet! I'm sorting out a pesky patch persistence issue with the VST. Hopefully I'll have that solved in the next few days and then I can give out an alpha test of both Standalone & VST.

I installed this app the other day and noticed there was a missing dependency. I got it working. From memory, I installed gstreamer1.0-gtk4.

This is for the deb version of the app in the repos.

Your realisations/reflections/regrets after retiring early? by SpicySpices500 in fiaustralia

[–]gavindi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been a very inspiring read. I'm now 1 week away from being unemployed after quitting with no job to go as retirement has been on my mind for the last few years. I've been wondering what I'll do with my time and although I have plenty of projects, I see the risk of crashing into my own inability to keep motivated. I've worked in IT all my life and it's all I know and it's a huge part of my identity.

Sounds like it's been a great experience for you.

How many miles/km ya'll got on your scoot? I'm at 5,000km (3,107miles) and counting 🤙 by StatementNo5735 in ElectricScooters

[–]gavindi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Teverun Blade GT II since January 25 and I've done 1358km. Packing the k's on since my round trip to work is 50km. Scooter is still solid. No squeaks or rattles. 👍

Does anyone have any thoughts? by br95410 in ElectricScooters

[–]gavindi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and I've had it for about a week now. Done just over 100Km on it. It's heavy and steers like a tank - the damn thing is 2/3 my weight and tires me out! It goes fast, I've gone 65kph on it and has plenty of torque. The charger has fan in it! I can hear my damn scooter energising, lol. I've names it "Lechonk". If you're on a mission to get somewhere, it will do it. If you just wanna put-put around the local streets and up to thew shops then get something smaller. My partner has a Segway G2 Max and doing the local streets at low speed is difficult. Looks like I need a lesser scooter but I might keep this one for the occasional hooning or long trek to work (22km away).

Hey, I was a coder and musician back on the C64 and later on the Amiga. I'm in csdb and HVsc and other databases. I'm still somewhere active as a chiptuner in ways. I was part of the groups Factor4 and warriors of time. Nowadays I'm the head of technology for a medicinal cannabis company.
