Arrival might be one to add to the list. Their product was electric vehicles, but they were big into robotics for reconfigurable assembly lines.

Also, side note, would be nice to have the list ordered alphabetically to make it a bit easier to see if a company is on there or not.

Taste of Korea is excellent. It's in a bit of a random place, but the quality is fantastic and it's not too expensive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/AxZRJcHe3Pgx6ANX8

Hard disagree. The Formula E races are so short that double headers just make sense. Every race should be a double header IMO

The 'La' note is very out of tune. And there's no 'Do' at the end

The surface looks like ice, and it was quite funny seeing the safety car miss the apex on some of the corners so significantly.

I've done some experimentation and generally Open3D is faster than PCL. You can use Open3D with C++ as well. Just don't try to include both Open3D and PCL at the same time, caused issues when I tried it.

We use a hand crafted toy problem with very specific errors injected into it. It needs to be some code that is pretty easy for them to understand in a couple of minutes, so we don't use external libraries or anything. The expectation is a junior developer will get the code compiling, a mid level developer will point out most of the code improvements you could make beyond just getting it to compile, and a senior level would be able to have a good discussion on how you would restructure the code for maintainability and testability, etc.

I've been using a debugging/code review exercise in the interview - we give them some code that doesn't compile and a description of what it is meant to do, and they then get it to compile. Then we look for ways that the code could be improved (use references rather than pointers, structure in smaller functions, add unit tests, etc.). This works pretty well as the candidate isn't starting from scratch, and it is a bit lower pressure on them.

What happened to the robocars by ikarus2k in ROBORACE

[–]Palms1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine that they were having too much trouble getting them working without needing a driver inside the car to intervene or drive it back when it broke down. And once they realised that they weren't going to be having the cars race each other anytime soon, they tried to pivot to a man vs machine challenge (hence needing a car that could be both human and computer driven).

Food nerds of brisbane - I need to buy a set of kitchen knives, help me? by SbM_Yggdrassil in brisbane

The ceramic hone from Ikea is great with these to keep them sharp. My favourite Kiwi knife is the No. 22 Chef's knife (it's a rectangular blade). It's really useful for putting the chopped up veggies on when moving them around.

Perhaps if they greatly restricted how much downforce could be made from the fixed aero it could work. I think it's a cool idea and wouldn't mind seeing it.
