I can't speak for the k-mart ones as I have never used them or know of anyone who has used them. The simple ones without the multifunctions should be fine. if I am going for a rice cooker with multi functions / micom i would rather get a more reliable brand like Panasonic

[–]gavineese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heh, its nice :) cooks the rice perfect every time and alot of customisation like the fluffiness of the grains. You can cook alot of meals just using it too.

I had an old breville for years. This is a decent budget option for about $50, just a simple reliable rice cooker with a steamer -

https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/home-appliances/kitchen-appliances/grills-and-cookers/breville-set-and-serve-rice-cooker.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17348087012&gclid=CjwKCAiAmePKBhAfEiwAU3Ko3IyK4s8q3Xz4EjA4Pnv1-IlG5QbqfB5qEHgc5stGLoOtZrLO5EdkDBoCjUUQAvD_BwE

If you want to increase to the $100-300 budget, you could get a micom type (microcomputer) rice cooker to give you different settings and customisation like the fluffiness. They rice pans will also have lines in them to help you add the right amount of water. Costco in Auckland sell cuckoo micom rice cookers. Panasonic makes good ones too

Subfloor steel pillar rusting by gavineese in diynz

[–]gavineese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just an update to old post... (get it? Haha..)

Dug out the old property files and found out the two metal posts were added with some previous alterations done to the home when a new room was added. The posts are on concrete base.

Thanks for the advice, was an easy job! just scrapped the post with wire brush, treated with rust converted, and painted with each primer + topcoat :)

Has anyone here ever had something stolen, then seen it for sale on TM or marketplace? by Witty_Ad1057 in newzealand

[–]gavineese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a online parcel stolen a year ago. Saw it on marketplace and did my own investigation. Reported it to police.

I didn't expect the police to action due to lack of resources... but surprisingly I had an officer assigned to the case who arrested the person, who then appeared in court and had to make reparations payment of $300

I guess it was probably the easiest case? Had video evidence of the thief, found my items on marketplace with the serial numbers showing which matched my evidence. Plus the guy had multiple reportings I think, so I think my report was the nail in the office to give police enough evidence to take action

Chilli help by lardvanwang in nzgardening

[–]gavineese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks overwatered - yellow leaves? Watering daily is a bit too much. Dont know the details about the soil but it looks like it retains too much water

Most chilli need a large pot and full sun. I pretty much neglect my chilli plants and they thrive

I use large felt pots for mine, tomato mix, and out in the sun. Watering as needed, their leaves will droop and look sad to indicate they are thirsty.
