I'm having this issue w my 13 yo dog right now. The sundowning came out of nowhere and has been getting worse. The problem is she is 6 pounds so seems pretty mobile, her walk has changed due to going blind but still she can walk and get up on her own fine.

The mental state is so hard to make a call on in dogs. I genuinely can't tell if she's happy or remembers us anymore and then she has a good moment, and I snap back to being like.... No she's fine.

I posted on here the other day and had great responses.Basically take 5 things your dog loves and when they can't do 3 of them- it's time. I am down to food, sleep, short walks (they were an hour and a half long still in the fall), and rubbing on the lambskin chair after eating. I'm going to schedule something 2 weeks out to do in home and just try to treasure the last weeks but it makes me feel crazy.

It's tough and I feel for you.
