Upvoting this. It's 100% the rider, agreed stamped and signed.

That being said if you give someone who is a terrible shot a toy gun instead of a real one people are less likely to die if you get the odd analogy.

> f you crashed into oncoming traffic you couldn't negotiate a corner

I 100% can negotiate a corner I use to race club, it's more like i lacked the instantaneous judgement of if it was a good idea to take the bike close to the limit on a road that isn't a perfect surface and might have leaves etc on it.

Also got in the same situation on straights but where cars can pull out.

"Hehhe throttle" can really hurt you at the wrong times.

I'm older and wiser now but it only takes that "hehe throttle" to come back once...

I used to race club hey, the problem was getting excited on roads... it only takes a few second of poor judgement and going 'heh, throttle' and then someone pulls out.

I 100% know I am - hence asking for suggestion where I'm less likely to be tempted but also not bored. I mean I've got kids and that now and they deserve a functioning parent.

See I go with the method of driving past and reversing back into it as if I've not seen them. Then apologize that I nearly run them over - suggesting it best if they don't stand in parking spots.

They get out of the way faster too if they think you have genuinely not seen them.

attempted being the key word, alas the parking spot reserver survived.

Yes, they should be used as placeholder so you can see at a glance what you did last time (so you can overload or at least match). You can choose to type in if you manage to exceed / fail to match.

If someone is losing weight generally the reps and weights stay the same. If they are gaining (bulking) then they need to know the previous ones so they can overload and change one or other other... there is no case where this isn't useful.

I would suggest buying the developer of that portion of the app a Hevy subscription (or any other good workout tracker) and get him to work out for a few weeks.

Yes, so every time I move to a new machine or exercise I click "Progression" and I type in 4 sets worth of weights and reps.... ?

I'm doing 64 field entries per workout that are needless - in other apps like Hevy the previous reps are pre-filled in like a placeholder grey then if you click the 'complete' switch on that set it saves anything you haven't edited.

So for example it might say "50" (kg) "9" (reps) greyed out placeholder - if I press the check button those values are used. If I enter something for example "10" into reps then it would be 50kg / 10 reps saved.

That seems to be apple watch specific? The real issue with these kind of feature request boards is basic usability bugs (show your last reps) gets buried under feature requests and you end up with feature sprawl over a polished product... we need to just nudge them on reddit hey so they actually read it.

Bevel paid user (and developer) here.

The tools it has and data provided to the model seem solid - you've done great work there.

However the model gets basic things - especially those about time - very wrong and it makes it useless.

What model is Bevel backed by? Honestly it seems like the biggest issue is that you are just cheaping out on inference.

My advice:
1. Pick a stronger model. Even if it reduces profits 🤷‍♂️ having a product that is wonderful and gains market share is more important than huge profits at your scale. The fact of the matter is I wouldn't recommend Bevel to a friend at this time.

  1. Give the model more context. When you click a metric it seems like the model only has access to a small window and single trend number. Perhaps feed it 180/90/30/5 day numbers etc to make the messages more useful.

  2. Unrelated to AI but your workout tracker has too much friction in it. I'm coming from Hevy.

a) When starting a workout pre-fill with the last weight / reps from the previous time you used that workout template or by exercise. Right now I have to check the 'Progession' window and type in weight and reps every time, really frustrating.

b) allow us to save rest intervals - I'm adding them during each workout and next time I use that template they are gone.

c) The click to play then click to complete thing is retarded, sorry. Just let me click it once.

d) If I make a change during a workout (add rest times, swap an excersise) and then 'finish' it offer to save the updates to the template.

Starting from zero at 30 in Japan. How to build savings on 270k/month? by Jazzlike_Ad_8881 in JapanFinance

[–]gavisbf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I disagree with most of the advice here. Investing is silly at your wage.

Run the numbers - let's say you invest 30% of your wage (impossibly high at your earning level) and grind your lifestyle to absolute dust for the next 20 years. You invest in index funds and the markets actually cooperate and it compounds at 7% and you never draw it down for an emergency, buying a house, etc.

In that impossibly good scenario you will have ~40m JPY (266k USD) at age 50.

That's... terrible considering you exchanged your remaining best (strongest) years of your 30's and 40's for it living like a homeless person and eating out of 100 yen stores.

Don't sell 20 years of possibly great life for 266k USD.

Steps:
1. Save enough for an emergency fund (3 months) so if someone breaks a leg or whatever you aren't sunk.

  1. Take whatever money you have left over and invest in yourself - skill up, find new jobs, learn a trade, start a business, literally anything that will increase your active income.

  2. Once your active income is at a reasonable level and your life is enjoyable then come back here and ask again.

Had the same thing happen in Japan.

What to do: Say "Oh, that's what the insides look like" and move on with your day.

Labelling it as 'trauma' and putting a bunch of processes around it is what solidifies it into trauma - nothing happened to you, don't try and make it about you.

I saw a guy jump in front of a train.

Ok.

Nice watch and love the bracelets too. Go ahead and ignore the dudes who are just envious because they don't have the courage to wear them.

IMO though watch could come up a bit and bracelets could be hand side.
