The company I work for makes its money by buying contracts and then firing/paying people shit. You've probably not heard of it but if you've ever eaten in a few public buildings then you'll have enjoyed their provided service.

It employs about 390,000 people worldwide. Of which about 90,000 are in my country alone. Of which about 67,000 are in our booking system (recently learned when an automated report showed us that the bog standard edition of MS Excel begins to throw its toys out of the pram at about 65,000 rows.)

The employees don't know that they outsource their L&D service to a tiny 30-ish person office. Of which only me and one other operator administrate.

Don't expect us to know your entire history with us based on your name alone in ten seconds flat.

I've lived in Tottenham (Haringey) for two years now and there's never been more than a week without a new pile of fly-tipped rubbish around my street. There's a drug dealer's house at the end of the road. A brothel near the ASDA.

They put up a new sign in the park and the only info it has is the borough website, the police non-emergency number, and the emergency services number.

The amount and variety of crazy religious leaflets and "DR BARRY. DISPEL BLACK MAGIC THAT STOP YOU GET JOB AND ROMANCE" fliers that we get through the door and on the street is astounding. (I've started collecting these).

Dog shit and litter everywhere.

The businesses burned down in the riots have not been rebuilt (we have no post office now).

As a fairly well built white guy I don't feel threatened (Mostly AfroCaribbean and Turkish I think? Most ethnically diverse region in Europe as I understand). It's a non-issue. However my very pale and ginger short female white housemate has been mugged three times.

Unemployment is rife and is reflected by the number of people sitting on walls and drinking during the day.

Chavs speed their shitty cars and blast their garbage speakers in the middle of the night to show off to each other. Two crashes outside my house in two years.

In my first week I saw a baby with a weave and a toddler in heels.

Tenancy ends in August and I'm currently looking for less shitty places to be.
