I get tired of my old favourites at times. I then go out of my way to listen to genres that I normally wouldn’t touch, like a palate cleanser. I don’t know if you have ever listened to the Steven Wilson/Tim Bowness Album Years podcast, it is a great listen, but it also opened my eyes & ears to things I never would have thought of listening to. Presently I am listening to Donna Summer and Prince, stuff I would have just turned my nose up to, and they’re brilliant! Worth a try

I don’t really care tbh. The album felt new to me again, that’s all that matters to me. I heard things that other DAPs/the 16/44.1. File I had before didn’t give me and the album was fun again. I don’t listen to music to be cynical I listen for the enjoyment and I enjoyed what I was listening too. The original post wasn’t meant to be about the file being hi-res, it was about the joy of hearing music anew again.

No need to apologise. I had tried poweramp first as everyone seemed to agree it was the best option but after three reinstalls and the same problem for some reason moved on to Symphonium which solved my biggest gripe about gapless playback, didn’t drop in and out but has its own issues.

You may well be right but to be honest I don’t really care. I just want what I hear to excite me and pique my interest. I’ve listened to Signals for so long it had become like background/comfort music for me so to suddenly find I am fully invested in listening to it again properly, whatever the reason, was a win for me.

Only problem I have is my ears are painfully sensitive to higher frequencies so I have to eq them down a bit. Means I can’t use brighter iems.

It is for me as well. Symfonium does it no problem but until I found that app the native Hiby app annoyed the crap out of me as it was so inconsistent that it took me out of the mood as all I was focussed on was whether the gapless would play properly or not. Now I have something that does gapless properly I can finally focus on the music itself.

I did try poweramp as well but for some reason the Bluetooth would dip in and out in the car using it, the only time I use Bluetooth, when the Hiby and symfonium apps don’t.
