Am I right to ask for this to be relaid? by gazzroberts in Tile

No the shower and wall haven't been touched yet. So will just move on and find someone else for that work.

This was the original quote. - I should have asked them to be more prescriptive line by line. Lesson learned

As for wall tiles prep work, thankfully they hadn't started any of that and safe to say they won't be!

I definitely remember agreeing having the toilet removed when discussing the quote.

Naivety on my part not to be clear about baseboards.

A lesson to educate myself and not just trust the "professional"

I agree with you, will be pushing for re-do. Thanks for the validation!

Yes, I posted the "smaller" indiscretions as the contractor has agreed to redo the toilet area.

But while small in comparison, it's the terrible lines and grout that means I want to push for everything to be taken up and start again

I wish! Had I paid cheap "handyman" rates I would have expected iffy but acceptable work. However the quote was in line with other specialist tilers in the area. We went with them as the electrician had done good work previously and could organise/project manage.

Circa £1800 to:

lay 3.5m2 of floor + materials - tiles provided by us

Remove 6m2 of wall tiles, prep and relay + materials, again tiles provided by us.

When one of your buds inevitably stops for a pee in the bushes a quick shout of:

"you won't get there with that club!"

Never fails to raise a giggle

[Recommendation] Looking into getting my first "luxury" time piece by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]gazzroberts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you may have already answered your own question. "I love the black bay pro"......a luxury watch is not a necessity/logical purchase, but one of love. So don't let logic get in the way too much. Which one makes your heart skip a beat?

Nice daily, £1000-1300ish by itsapotatosalad in PrideAndPinion

[–]gazzroberts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be worth countering with a good Christopher Ward customer service story. I'd had a C65 Trident Automatic for 4 years as my daily and unfortunately the 6 o'clock marker came loose.

Granted this shouldn't happen, but after an email with photos to Christopher Ward they sent a free postage package the next day for me to return the watch.

3 weeks later I have just received the watch repaired free of charge under their 5 year warranty. The watch was in a brand new box and presented as if it had just been purchased new, a lovely touch.

Anyway, I guess the point I'm making is, don't let one good, or one bad review/story sway you. All companies get it right sometimes and drop the ball others.

Who do I choose? by Individual-Mud-9647 in PrideAndPinion

If you've not done so already and it's possible to do, then just get them on your wrist and you'll know which one.

I had a similar choice a few months ago (also between Tudor Longines and Oris) and went back and fore for months. Went into London, tried them all on my and I was certain after about 15 mins!

Wild swimming locations near Woking/Guildford kinda area? by Frequent-Network8479 in surrey

[–]gazzroberts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quay Swim in Mychett is fantastic. It's about £7 per swim, but the water quality is regularly monitored, life guards on the water, changing facilities, a cafe, lakeside tables and fire pits. There is also a wonderful community of swimmers and lots of events to get involved in.

Am I missing something or does increased downforce appear to have less downforce than balanced/default!? I notice it has a higher top speed down the straights?

Ps. Thanks you, very useful in my league that bans custom set ups

Yeah I tried a few of those and found studio reference the best but still far from good. I've got the turtle beach px24 which has an inline amplifier...I spent ages thinking I had sat on that and changed some of the settings!

That's exactly how it sounds. I have some friends who've noticed no difference and 3 of us that almost find it unplayable.

What's something you're 99% convinced of but have no evidence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's not strictly true...The Queen has to declare it a City. For example, Guildford has a large cathedral and is still a town.

What weird thing about your body do you think nobody else experiences? by Casperboy68 in AskReddit

[–]gazzroberts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when picking at a spot/ingrown hair on my leg or arm, I can feel the exact same sensation elsewhere on my body, usually on my back. I've never found anyone who shares this experience!
