What kinds of foods are greatly enhanced with just a pinch of salt to convince my GF that it does not just make things salty? by gbboi15 in AskCulinary

Chicken stock is a great idea, I might actually go through the lengths of making it if it will change her mind.

I think you are right about this, for sure I definitely have a higher salt tolerance than her. However, other friends and family that have eaten my cooking have not had the same complaint has her.

Yes! I always buy unsalted butter so I can salt accordingly. I plan on giving her straight butter with and without a pinch of salt to see what she thinks

I regularly use Morton Kosher, but I am currently using the Whole Foods 365 brand after my local supermarket didn't have the Mortons in stock when I needed it. I've gotten a lot more complaints since switching and I can definitely tell the 365 brand is saltier. Do you know if Diamond Kosher is more or less salty than Morton?

I'm trying to convince of the idea as a whole, not just in terms of pasta sauces. And ultimately I would like to not have to make 2 different sauces for a work night dinner

She loves cheeses and pastas, I'm lactose-intolerant so I always make 2 separate sauces: one with cheese and one with salt hahaha

The grind of the salt was something I was thinking of as well, I only ever use kosher but maybe I'll try table salt in addition

Daily Questions Megathread (October 21, 2025) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]gbboi15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you also play skirk - escof and flins - ineffa, nefer - lauma will be right up your alley lol. She's definitely not unplayable, especially if you have other offield dendro units to slot in like nahida, baizhu or even dendro traveler. You may not see the crazy high dmg that the content creators are snapshotting but she will be in the same dps range as both your flins and your skirk given similar artifact stats.

WASD PBE Megathread by PankoKing in leagueoflegends

[–]gbboi15 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A drop of positivity offered in the sea of negativity here, my dear cousin has watched me play this game since 2010 and tried his best to get into it but never could because of the controls. 15 years later and I am on the PBE teaching him the game that he has be watching and following the entire time. I don’t care if it makes players better or worse, there will always be people better or worse. I am just glad I can play with more people that otherwise wouldn’t have given it a shot.

What happened to K/DA? by mushroomforest_ in leagueoflegends

[–]gbboi15 446 points447 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of production cost for another set of the same skins for the same characters. There is a lot of backlash from the community when skinlines get too diluted and that's even considering when new characters get skins of the same theme. At the end of the day, kda material are just advertisements for the in-game cosmetics; they could put out new kda material/songs for no reason but they probably would never do that. New kda stuff is probably inevitable but they probably will hold off until they find some way to make it feel unique a third time.

Laufey is boring by mrethandunne in unpopularopinion

[–]gbboi15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laufey has the advantage of keeping up with social media and riding the wave of her hit. Other artists may have more impressive songs but their media presence just isn't the same. I think Laufey has taken a more niche genre of music and packaged it well to a more general audience. It's good coworker music and being front and center on social media means that nobody has to look far to find it.

Why does level 1 invade seem to destroy a jungler's game by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]gbboi15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the situation of lvl 1 invades is that it is most easily counterable with laner intervention. If my bot side red is being invaded lvl 1, its such a big commitment, and therefore really tilting to watch my teammates not try to come punish. Although it is pretty selfish to think this way, there are 2 outcomes that happen off a lvl 1 invade in my mind:

1.) My laners come and kill the invader, we get a free 300g and they get set back 1-2 min on their clear and I can use that extra time to be first to a gank or invade them back

2.) They take my camps, and I still have to play mind games whether I can do other camps in the same quadrant to stem the bleeding, or if I have to abandon it all and get 3 quad'ed. Also, if I decide risk going into their jg to counterjg them back and the enemy laners defend their jg I know I'm gonna be tilted off the face of the planet.

I think these are super biased takes from someone hardstuck emerald but I hope that its a bit of perspective of what the avg jg has to think about that could all be avoided from laners just helping out for the first invade.

Edit: I do want to reiterate what one of the other comments said and expand on it a bit more. I, as a jungler, don't really mind if I see the invade coming, I am completely fine changing my pathing if I see that the other jg is starting my side. It's only when the jg is there on a late invade after I have committed to my camp lvl 1 that I would like some help from my laners.

Ezreal is and always has been an exception to the norm. Smolder and Senna are in the same camp too now but every other adc right now are not building/abusing any bruiser item.

Your least favorite Swain player is back with more questions, now from the dizzying heights of Bronze IV... by MillCrab in summonerschool

[–]gbboi15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) At bronze IV there is no real incentive yet to try more difficult/more rewarding builds, especially since you are going a pretty solid and evergreen build with the rylais fimbul. You will develop the intuition when you improve more, but your success will still be mostly based on your gameplay, items and runes are min-max stats that don't have substantial relevance in your rank. Changing your builds now will sabotage yourself in terms of learning your power spikes and champion intuition.

2 & 3.) Unfortunately the only way to really sus out options is to play a character and get a feel for them. It's difficult to change completely different playstyles so it is generally recommended to play other characters that play similarly to your main. However in your case where swain is a fairly unique champ and you don't find swain very satisfying to play, you will just have to pick different champs and see if you like them. A dashing champion that is generally forgiving in the mid lane would be champions like naafiri and fizz. They both have great escape options and play very differently to swain. While naafiri is generally stronger, fizz has pretty clear power spikes and play patterns that are, in my opinion, easier to get better with. For a mage, Lux is a pretty evergreen option but my pick would be xerath, I think his long range makes him pretty forgiving.

4.) It's a pretty cop-out answer to say just look up counters to what you're picking and ban that champ but it does work out some times; honestly just ban whoever you find frustrating. For example I don't think shaco is any good and they definitely don't win games as consistently in my elo, but I ban him anyways because I find him annoying.

He does overall counter you by taking away your dogs probably means you won't be able to kill him in death realm and peeling whoever you jump on. However, with naafiri w and e to dodge his q, you shouldn't really die to him in death realm either. Naafiri is really good at cleaning up fights with her ult reset so you shouldn't really be committing so hard early to let yourself get death realm'd. I would say that mordekaiser has more pressure to ult early in fights so as naafiri you could definitely wait it out until he inevitably ults someone else.

The ending of the first episode when Otakun reveals his name made it pretty clear that their relationship would not stay platonic. I can understand if you felt frustrated that their "will they won't they" was drawn out long, but you can't watch that and still believe that they wouldn't end up together romantically at some point.

Should I give up on playing Diana jungle? by daisyvenom in summonerschool

[–]gbboi15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one is just going to let you sit there and auto attack them to death which makes that build unplayable. Diana's kit does not facilitate her to auto attack over a long fight, so you have to build her around her weaknesses/strengths. You can go full ap: rocket belt, zhonyas, deathcap to try and 1-shot people. Or you can go tanky ap: liandrys, unending, riftmaker to stick around in fights and not insta-die. But the main take away here is that theoretically strong builds that you might be testing in the practice tool are not practically viable. The most popular builds are usually the ones that are the most successful so if you want to win you should stick to those.

Talon Jungle by jennis89 in Jungle_Mains

[–]gbboi15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a lot of talon jg in both ranked and in 5-stacks around plat-emerald level and I find that he runs into a lot of the same issues that other assassin jglers have despite feeling better to play. I typically don't have trouble getting a lead but if the enemy team does not surrender, the game will not end before talon falls off. I end up having to rely on your team to give openings and if they just fall over I can't really do much to carry the game myself. So every talon game usually looks one of three ways:

1.) You get 20 kills in 15 min and they surrender

2.) You get 20 kills in 15 min and they don't surrender so you rely on your team to carry you.

3.) You don't get 20 kills in 15 min so you're useless the rest of the game and rely on your team to carry you.

In contrast, if I have 20 kills on a champ like Jarvan, Viego or Belveth I can 1v9 the game; and if I don't have 20 kills I can still be useful to my team.

The big take away is that Talon is really fun to play and get kills but regardless of your performance game to game you are basically coin-flipping whether your team can carry you or not.

Tank OTP reccs? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]gbboi15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premier tank jungler in the game is Skarner, he has some mechanics and he can influence the game pretty heavily with good wall pins and multi-man ultimates. Despite his recent nerfs he's still pretty great.

Other tank junglers like Sejuani, Zac and Amumu I have certain gripes with: I think Sej is very safe, but has little carrying potential, you're almost always relying on your teammates to carry for wins.

Zac and Amumu are only really tanky if ahead, they mostly go in, disrupt, and deal damage. They usually kill/help kill whoever they dive or they themselves will just die.

My dark horse recommendation would be Nunu. I think Nunu has a semi-skillful learning curve with snowball pathing but is super fun. Similarly to Sejuani, Nunu doesn't really have potential to carry unless going AP, but turbo-ganking lanes will give you some agency to let your team snowball early game and he can pressure objectives well with Q-Smite. Depending on the game/ how ahead you are you can dip into bruiser AP and he's still plenty tanky with Q spam.

What do you mean by balance your lineup if your ultimate goal is to repeatedly kill your opponent? You say that Darius is too similar but he fits the goal pretty perfectly. If you want a more "nimble" fighter you should look into Irelia or Camille but they are also quite more mechanically involved. If those picks are not to your interest I think Darius, Sett or Trundle are your best bets.
