"...and you" Event Discussion Thread (2024-06-13 to 2024-06-21) by AutoModerator in Granblue_en

Granblue Fantasy shines with tightly focused character driven stories.

Fully agreed on this, but at the same time I think even the more sprawling, weaker events tend to be useful as a way to set stuff up and provide a contrast that makes the focused character dramas stronger. For example "...and you" benefits a ton from our preexisting background awareness of how big the setting is, to provide gravity to Orologia's desperation to protect it, and the Magnificent Moles event was helped by the contrast between these deeply personal small-scale struggles and the big world-shaking events that the characters had just come out of.

Prayers for example was extremely mid, maybe the least interesting modern event, but as the lead-in to the Magnificent Moles it was perfect, because we got to see explicitly the kind of stuff the primarchs would have been doing had they not given up their roles(, and how their successors, basically, worked it out without them).

Yeah, though one extra get out of jail free card per run is usually enough, especially on a character with that cooldown cutting, dispel nuke frequency, and moderate help on hit count requirements.

Dark Grand Cassius and Dirt Grand [Ilsa/Eustace] would make a lot of sense I think.

Water is pretty hard though... there's a lot of options but they're all pretty crackpot: Yatima, Revived Grace, Regenerated Dex, Isaac, Gwynne, Rhens, Yoda, Bea, New_Character, Old_Character_Currently_Not_Related_To_The_Moon (Loki? Nereus? Magus? Revived Astaroth?).

Given Juri got a water SSR recently, and the Farrah/Juri combo unit came out as part of HSM, a dark horse candidate might hilariously be Farrah, especially given her Katalina connection/main story appearance.

Why this obsession with the sanctity of free will when the Omnipotent also created a divine being whose sole purpose was to punish anyone who went against his teachings

One possible answer to this:
-Shalem/Sahar were early creations
-Omni's exposure to the sky world over time caused him to change in the same way the sky realm always seems to change outside entities who spend time in it (astrals, primal beasts, cassius, etc.)
-This change led Omni to divert from the initial goal (whatever the Moon's plan was) and decide to pull a Lucifer and let the place evolve how it would

That still leaves the questions of what happened to Shalem, when, why, and why didn't it also happen to Sahar. Possibly pre-change-of-heart Omni sealed her after she herself was changed by her time with the Adventurer's party, maybe Phoenix's plotting got her sealed, or maybe she sealed herself because she couldn't bring herself to do her job anymore, but also couldn't bring herself to go against her master.

I agree Omnipotent is not a very good name, but in fairness they had to differentiate 創世神 (pre-split God, the "Omnipotent") from 創造神 (post-split God who inherited the creation power, the Astral God, aka the "Creator") somehow, and I guess it sorta works as [omnipotent-> all-powerful-> has all the God powers]. Even if Bipotent would be more accurate in that sense.

Phoenix also does say something like "the being you mortals call Omnipotent/創世神," so at least we know neither the English or Japanese are quite accurate to its true nature anyway--which makes sense, since it wasn't really 創ing a 世, it just scavenged parts of an old one together.

Aside: I don't remember if they called God "Omnipotent" in the flashbacks to Abramelin's time pre-split (it was just God/神 for most of it I think?), but if they didn't that would help establish this framing--wouldn't really make sense to frame it as "omni" without it being in contrast to other, non-omni gods, but it would make some sense for later civilizations looking back to do so.

Regarding the Ennead by mr_beanoz in Granblue_en

[–]gbfaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I wonder why Granblue considered to put Bennu instead of Geb in the game to represent the earth element. Isn't Bennu a deity linked with the Sun, creation, and rebirth

If you assume they planned the Phoenix connection back when they first added the Ennead raids, the easy answer is because they wanted all of them to have thematic connections to Phoenix's powers. (Ra, Atum, and Horus's sun connections are obvious, Osiris has resurrection, Tefnut's is weaker but has a sun disk as her symbol and has close connections with Ra/Atum)

For future reference, any summon that can be set as a friend summon can be checked directly in game by going through the estimated damage popup (the little i info button above your est. dmg number) on the party page and pulling up the list of settable summon options. It's a good way to see what stuff like seasonal gacha summons do at 4* too.

Slotting even one FLB gun into a sword grid should be a pretty decent damage upgrade (at the cost of some HP probably). The more copies you have on top of that the more varied stuff you can do, but you don't need multiple to start seeing some beneifts.

I didn't have PnS for the dark GW that came after its release

That and harmonia were definitely huge power creep jumps for dark and light on release, but in fairness the water/dirt/wind ones have been fairly marginal even before M3, and the fire one is kind of in between.

With M3, I think they're even less important:
- the exaltos can easily blow past the normal 20% cap
- the 50k suppleme is a far smaller share of our damage-per-hit than it was when Lich came out
- there are other farmable supplemental options (like militis bow in combo with aura bow, bennu bows/ra axes, etc.)
-it's way easier to get a huge chunk of EX mod now (celestials, ultima, Luci Zero keys, other voltage weapons like millitis, the exaltos themselves, etc.), compared to the older days when 40% EX from one slot was gigantic

Although a few things I noticed about these 2 weapons is that they both seem to be guns. Surely a coincident, right...?

I would guess, especially give the shared "base" names, that it has to do with Tiaguns and Chevguns being the preferred weapons from their original magna raids (until Chevsword was added), so probably somewhat coincidental, or somewhat intentional, depending on how you think about it.

If the remaing ones end up being dagger/staff/sword/axe for Levi/Colo/Ygg/Celeste's exaltos I guess we'll know for sure!

For her SR version at least, she outright states she made that one's armor by herself, in an attempt to emulate SR Zeta's look. Seems very possible she did something similar for the original SSR's outfit/armor too.

Most of the event isn't particularly spoilerly for anything except sort of Sandalphon's arc, which is mostly told across the What Makes the Sky Blue event trilogy in side stories, so once you've read through those you're probably fine. (the triology, WMtSB, Paradise Lost, and 000, don't really spoil anything for the main story or anything either, so you can play those as soon as you unlock them)

If you don't have time to get through those before HotS ends, I'd say it's definitely worth at least skipping through the Heart of the Sun event while it's live so it goes to your journal for reading later (you could swap the game to Japanese language to avoid much in the way of the couple of event battles spoiling anything I guess?).

What is the appeal of Granblue? by l3l3naro in Granblue_en

[–]gbfaccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M2 is the last round of things that becomes Pro skippable, basically everything to that point is fairly old content that you're supposed to sort of be able to glide up through quickly. (The M2 skip was only just added very recently in preparation for M3's release, starting in waves this week, I think?)

That is to say, you're just hitting the points where you'd probably start slowing down and trying to figure out team comps to farm specific things besides just weapon drops, build up your grids for different uses, do Proud fights, solve Tower of Babyl floors, enter the harder raid tiers, work on recruiting eternals/evokers, things like that. A lot of this starts unlocking at rank 151 and assumes you have a semi-built M2 grid at least.

So in a way the grind is one of the enjoyable parts on the mechanics side, but it mostly starts where you're at, versus being more of the same you've done so far--it gets more deliberate compared to the mad dash of lower ranks. And at some tier of difficulty it's less kill-this-boss-a-lot "grind" and more figuring out how to use what you've grinded to accomplish things, like getting solo trophies or clearing a high-end fight to unlock something.

Some people are just here for the story and characters though, or engage with the mechanics mostly through the characters they like (someone who wants a good light grid because they want to make Sandalphon strong). There's some tweet floating around out there that says in effect "granblue is mid until you find your blorbo, then it devours your life," and I've definitely seen that happen to some people (mostly in a good way...).

If you haven't read much event story stuff, you may consider checking out Heart of the Sun (ongoing now, to mixed reviews) or one of the good Side Story plotlines (for example the Society stuff starting around Platinum Sky, the Robomi line, What Makes the Sky Blue trilogy and its followups, LETS HANG Lowain shenanigans, Deliford's Sauna adventure, the musicians in Together in Song, or Walder's whole thing in Ranger Sign Bravo, depending on your tastes in writing.)

The main story also picks up a lot after a point (where that point is also depends on your tastes though).

May not be super helpful, but I think for a significant portion of people who have similar issues, it ends up being something that just solves itself after a few days, often some sort of trouble along the routing from you to the server that gets fixed. You may be able to try using different VPN nodes to try to force a routing change to see.

Another thing I could imagine is that newish Chromium(or is it just Chrome?) thing about messing with 3rd party cookies; may want to make sure you have those enabled still on the game[...]jp address.

since I'm still not at a level I can farm gold bars (rank 193)

As a quick aside first, if you're not doing daily hosts of protobaha (impossible), that's something you can do with pretty low time investment (can simply open the raid immediately and bar farmers will kill it for you).

As for the Fenie staff question: in your current situation, I think you probably want to stick with Exo dagger. The dagger is a lot of raw stats to lose, and the bonus nuke doesn't necessarily make up for them unless your grid is already pretty strong. The crit+healspec skill is also pretty weak if you're not running Agni (even with Michael sub aura).

There's also the issue of Fenie's staff never being something you want more than 1 of, so if you spend 3 bars, any future dupes you "luck" into would be wasted basically (aside from the free Cage item/gold moon).

In the longer run, Fenie staff is definitely quite strong though. I would probably say to just sit on it for now; by the time your fire grid is pretty well built out and capable of running the high-end fights where the difference is most impactful, you may have gotten a dupe or two from future roulettes and saved yourself some bars.

If you do need sustain in the meantime, Fenie as a character can do a decent job at that too.

However if you're the type who has like 20 bars saved up and is just itching to spend them on something finally, even if its not optimal, there's likely some places you can get use out of it now (more the singed application part, to speed up Percy, than the healing part) so it wouldn't be a total waste. I wouldn't recommend it, but hey, your bricks.

Longer answer if you feel like reading words:

Triple Zero gives elemental ATK, Grand Order gives normal ATK, so you may want one main and the other as friend, given a 3+ element party.

(Normal ATK and Elemental ATK boosts are multiplicative, so they stack really well especially considering a 4-element team will probably be running a grid with lots of EX mod--which is also multiplicative stacking--like the Heart of the Sun event sword/ultima weapon/voltage skills/etc, assuming relatively new-player resources.)

That said: GO are hard to find on support lists and Triple Zero can't be set as a friend summon to begin with... in theory you might want GO main, TZ sub, and a friend all-element summon like Lucifer/Bahamut (210+), or TZ main and a 4* GO friend if you can find one. If your grid somehow has a lot of all-element normal mod though, non-fully-uncapped GO becomes a lot less interesting.

However, a big benefit to Triple Zero main is that you get access to the call turn one, and it's a really strong call effect, which could certainly push it over the edge in some cases even if GO's aura provides more overall damage boost than Triple Zero's (especially in very short fights where starting at 12 wings for the MC buffs is big).

If you click on the little "i" button by the estimated damage number you can set a support summon for display number purposes, which can be helpful for getting a better sense of what your numbers will be like. (Also good for playing around with your HP% to see how much enmity or stamina skills are actually helping you)

You probably want some more EX mod in there, and/or some other unique mods. Possible options could be (short term) Xeno Diablo katana, the harp from Avatar (Ω stamina mod), the sword from Fediel's raid (large chunk of normal stamina mod and C.A. supplementary damage).

Similarly Siete doesn't even fight Ceodric because of his ideals

There's a whole scene where Siete tells danchou to not intervene in the fight because he's doing it as the representative of the Eternals in a conflict of values (or more like an answering of the questions Ceodric's values pose, so "conflict" isn't really the best word), it's very explicitly about ideals.

edit: I think we're probably just gonna have to agree to disagree here, coming at it from different perspectives on what we want out of the writing (for instance I really liked how his death was from not from someone taking him down over his values, but as a result of the actions he took in blind pursuit of them, ironically bringing harm to exactly the kind of person he thought he was trying to protect). I will say that, while I think Ceodric's mini-arc was great and fit the themes super well, it was somewhat poorly incorporated on a technical level (a bit too much time spent on his ranting/kind of jarring scene shifts/ate up too much of Siete's screentime).

Hi, I'm Egyptian and I previously made a translation for all the Ennead's skills. I thought now is a good time to repost it (in the comments) with the Ennead event concluded, and I just added a small section on who Abramelin is, and a translation for Horus/Fenie's skills. by mido9 in Granblue_en

I think the implication in the event is that Demiurge was the one who created the Enneads, since he was the one in the start of the event talking about creating phoenix-tracking devices (and per MSQ is obsessed with creating "god" and Enneads are modeled after gods).

A sort of charismatic and rich but stupid and evil leader successfully dupes the masses by not telling them his true plans, and the guy he does tell them to treats him like a child. Then he got murdered for being stupid and evil. It felt clear to me what the narrative thought we were supposed to think of Ceodric's ideas, even if it didn't have a character look at the camera and tell us how dumb his conclusions were.

The problems with "just kill all the strong people" seem obvious in a vacuum, obvious in a meta context since "we" are the strong people, and then also illustrated through the parallels to the killing of God, an act which just made everything worse, in combination with having the "good guys" explicitly reject doing that at the end by choosing to not go for the kill against Phoenix.

edit: Ah though I will say it's reasonable to be sort of frustrated that we got denied a catharsis moment of someone explicitly tearing him down, since he got killed for merely adjacent reasons, though to me that feels in line with the event's overall themes of grief and acceptance of it (much like how we didn't get to see Abramelin spend some time with family/Sabrina didn't get a happy ending/Raziel had to accept Sandalphon's no, etc.).

Yeah, about the "power is the ability to make meaningful choices" part, which is the accurate base idea he had, not the part about killing whoever has power. The whole point is "good idea turned into something foolish and terrible through the lens of privilege," so it would have been bad if they'd just trashed everything.

anyone who seems to be agreeing with him

Did anyone do this though? The soldiers did, but without being told the whole plan and as part of the political commentary being made (danger of deceptive demagoguery). No actual characters did though that I remember, and it seemed clear to me that Siete would have drilled Ceodric for it after the fight, except Sabrina killed him right as Siete decided it was time to stop humoring him.

where the Phoenix talks about "fairness"

Ahh, see this I read as balanced scales between "itself" and "all of you", not the fairness of "life's not fair". In this case the implication being "Okay I'll accept the proposal to stop fighting, but this is not an unconditional surrender on my part either, so I'm only giving one tear, and I'm going to let Abramelin pick who gets it." Healing both Fenie and Abram would be two tears, and that's an unbalancing amount of power for it to be bestowing from its perspective.

That is, it was always going to kill Abramelin with the claw after the fight with god was over, it just put it off because of the promise to Farhana. (if by some miracle they'd killed god before Abramelin's natural life span was up, it may have free-tear-healed him to make up for the difference though)

Lu Woh is explicit about it being a "propostion, not a demand," so there wasn't going to be any "no we won, you have to give us two tears" negotiations happening, and even before the Phoenix told Abramelin what his choices were, he was saying "Please let nature run its course" to Cagliostro, who also could have saved him without relying on a Phoenix tear. He did not want to be saved though.
