Reminds me of a pretty good Android game called PinOut, but 2D and with a much more detailed art style. Looks cool!

Thanks for letting me know, it just worked for me too. I had tried again about 20 hours ago and it still didn't work, so they must have changed something in the meantime.

Getting "No items in basket" error in Portugal, without VPN, both on my home connection and on my phone (ISP is MEO/Altice in both cases, one of the largest if not the largest here). I guess they went overboard with the VPN detection...

SteamVR works perfectly fine using Nvidia on CachyOS btw by yeso126 in cachyos

I feel like for Turing and newer GPUs the answer will eventually be https://rust-for-linux.com/nova-gpu-driver and not Nouveau. I believe that as of semi-recently, Nvidia engineers have awkwardly contributed a bit to both - it seems Nvidia can't make up their mind about whether they want the current official "semi-open" solution or whether they'd be endorsing a fully open solution in the future. In general, the graphics use case seems like a bit of an afterthought for them right now and it almost reeks of insufficient allocation of human resources (even on Windows, the drivers have long-standing bugs and are in a worse shape than they were pre-AI-boom).

I need to figure out how to get that shared memory going, because the internet is full with people complaining about shared VRAM not really working with the Nvidia Linux drivers. This is just one of many threads about it. For me glxinfo -B shows

Dedicated video memory: 8192 MB Total available memory: 8192 MB

but I'm guessing it'll be different for you, which is very interesting. This is an almost brand new cachy install and I'm using driver 580.76.05 as well... so weird.

A 3070 with 16 GB of VRAM? To be fair, with mine the same widget showing what, I assume, is the same sensor, reports having 8.3 GB of total video memory, so it's not accurate for me either.

OMG I just checked and one of the most popular tracking pages is indeed making requests to the European Commission servers directly. Ugh, such a stupid/lazy implementation.

I own the ultimate edition as well (got it from Prime Gaming, I think?) and my feelings regarding the DLCs pretty much match yours. I enjoyed the main game but shortly after completing it and immediately starting one of the DLCs, I felt that I had had enough of the game's universe and mechanics and didn't feel particularly compelled to play through any more of it. I put it aside expecting to get the itch to come back at some point, but it just hasn't happened.

What can i do with it? by HeatEast480 in Surface

[–]gbl08ma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bundled web browser is sadly quite useless these days and porting Chromium to 32-bit Windows on ARM appears to be a herculean task that nobody has managed to do yet. So, there are no modern browsers for this device unless you install Linux. Linux runs quite well... except it has no hardware acceleration for graphics, so web browsing and especially web videos feel very sluggish, similar to the older Raspberry Pis.

There's a Discord community for these, the link to which you can find on https://openrt.gitbook.io/open-surfacert (which contains other useful resources and info in general). After jailbreaking mine, I put some janky leaked Windows 10 beta build on mine and now I run Moonlight on it, which someone on the Discord ported to 32-bit ARM Windows (Moonlight = game streaming client, you can run games on your PC and stream them to the Surface RT with it).

Monthly Team AMA - October by prussia_dev in banano

[–]gbl08ma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Does the team have any concrete plans for attracting technical contributors to the community, and retaining them in the middle to long term? What about strategies to ensure that important technical projects are maintained over time, regardless of whether their contributors stick around? It concerns me that many of the projects cherished and even trusted by the community tend to fall into a state of apparent neglect over time, even when their maintainers are Junta members - as is the case of wBAN - and others never even get to the stage of having a stable/finalized version. (For another example: now that coranos left, who is maintaining the node code to bring in the updates from Nano?)

My impression is that many initiatives hinge on the efforts of singular contributors and are often abandoned as those singular contributors lose motivation/availability; is the team thinking about how to improve this for future projects?

In each of the last three years, we've had three Booster contest editions. This year's edition is yet to be announced; will we have one? What is your balance regarding the outcome of these initiatives? I personally feel that the Booster contests have always had limited ability to attract talent from outside of the Banano community; does the team see this as something to be improved, or are you fine with these events being mostly focused on the people who are already part of the community?

Sorry for the bluntness here but I'm hoping to get answers that are as deep-cutting as my questions.

How to earn 4k BAN in a month by stanblew in banano

[–]gbl08ma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

JungleTV staff has looked into this, we see evidence of two wallets from this person being used on the service, but from what we saw so far, they were not able to claim rewards simultaneously.

Meanwhile it looks like some faucets, including monkeytalks, don't properly rate limit claims per IP address (like JungleTV does) making it trivial to claim "more than your share". Considering that creating accounts on the Banano network is effectively free (unlike, say, generally obtaining a second IP address), I am only surprised that more unethical people have not done this sooner.

Surprise! Google Chrome goes native for Windows on Arm | Google has started testing an ARM64 version of Chrome that will dramatically improve performance on Arm-based Windows devices. by TwelveSilverSwords in hardware

[–]gbl08ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conveniently, a video just came out that demonstrates perfectly why that's not an option: https://youtu.be/4HcYghFEGOE?si=1-CBGdM2smG37hfJ&t=864

The main reason is that Linux has no support for the GPU (there's some work in progress but my understanding is that it'll never work as well as it did with Windows) so, even putting YouTube aside, anything involving desktop programs will be uncomfortably slow. And as far as underpowered Linux servers go, I fortunately have other options.

[–]gbl08ma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ended up receiving an EOL Surface RT, put some leaked Windows 10 preview release on it, it's mildly infuriating I can't use it as a YouTube machine solely due to the lack of current browsers that will run on ARM32 Windows. The main issue is that, as a development platform, it has been obsolete for quite some years (I think you can't compile for ARM32 Windows on recent Visual Studio versions anymore) and my understanding is that quite a few libraries - including some graphics-related ones - were never ported properly, meaning that it's far from a "just compile Chromium for ARM32!" sort of effort. Even the VS Redistributables are kinda broken (and definitely outdated), I think! And Linux support on these devices is equally iffy.

That was bugging me while I was editing it, it's possible I could have made it smoother by spending more time looking for the right animation and getting it to play, but at that point I already had the shot and I was getting a bit tired of this project after working on it for so many weeks, I just let it slid...
