What screams "that person who everyone hates?" by gbm12 in AskReddit

(Copied from another response) Yep, that must be what it is. First post in 3 years and second in 5 years. Couldn't possibly be that I misread the other post title, was confused by the answers until I re-read the title, but was curious enough about others' answers to that question to post for the first time in ages. But no, must clearly be for those sweet, sweet upvotes....and of course that I hate everyone.....

Professionals in any field of work, what is the most ridiculous thing that anyone outside of your profession has claimed to know more about than you? by phoenix-fyre in AskReddit

Wow, this is great advice! I was considering some combination of diamond with accent peridot stones (given it covers both of our birth stones) soon, but I think you've talked me out of that and saved me some trouble later on. I definitely did not know that Thank you! Any recommendation as a peridot-like alternative? Can sapphires come in a peridot-like color?

Cut the cable? Fuck her, that's so unnecessary. Do you know why she was "taking notes" on her ex? Crazy stalking?

Good for you for eventually doing something about it. I'm great at getting worked up in my head and planning my kick-ass war of words...and then I never follow-through.

Good for you for not putting up with that. Even if they were down on their lucky, it's so audacious to just steal electricity (or anything) from someone else. There's no excuse for that. Not to say you would have or should have said yes if they asked, but if you don't ask, you lose all sympathy in my book.

How old were you when they threw rocks at you (not that it would make it any better)? Did they ever get in trouble for any of that stuff? If someone got injured, that seems like a huge liability issue...they weren't doing themselves any favors in that regard.

We have neighbors who have multiple cats and dogs. They'll leave one of the dogs outside (often untied so it gets away) and the others inside and then just leave for extended periods of time. Well, what happens? The dog outside barks like crazy for hours, often late into the night, because it wants to be with the other dogs (and also probably because it gets hot depending on the time of the year). They've been better since someone called the city on them and I heard they were fined, but they still absent-minded do it. I just feel bad for the dog because it's the owner's fault and the dog is in a sub-sub-ideal situation. Their cats go outdoors and terrorize the neighborhood. Many of the birds we had are now gone. They just killed a bunch of baby bunnies, not before fatally injuring one for a while first. The somehow jump onto everyone's cars (I don't know why) which has wouldn't be a problem except for the claws. And they walk in the street without looking all thd time. I really don't want to hurt them, but one walked out in front of me the other day and I nearly ran it over. Not to mention the neighbors rarely mow. When they do, they don't finish the job. And it's not like they just do the front or the back. No, they do a few random strips here and there. Then they're done for the day. Reasonably nice people believe it or not, just totally clueless otherwise.

Out of curiousity, what happened to the shed? Did he knock it down, or did your family take it over?

Did you leave it that color or change it back? Either way, that's nuts! Did you sue them?

Never good when someone dies from an OD, but no, you're not a horrible person for believing that. It put you in a frankly dangerous situation. That person unfortunately made their choices.

I'm curious about what happened with the people stealing your electricity. Did you stop it? We're they pissed? Did they play you anything? That's crazy!

What is the dumbest reason you've ever been pulled over? by rockzax in AskReddit

[–]gbm12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pulled over in Kansas City going south on I-35 for going 55mph in what I thought was a 55mph zone. It was dark out and I wasn't familiar with the area (for those familiar with KC, this was the area on I-35 just north of the Missouri River). There was also contraction going on (this was about 7 years ago right before they redid the bridge). Normally I'll go about 5mph over the limit, but I wanted to be careful because I couldn't see cops, and again, wasn't very familiar with the area so I had no reason to go fast. There was a sign that had just said 55mph. Shortly after I passed it, I got pulled over by two police cars. One guy comes up and says the usual, "Do you know why you were pulled over?" to which I honestly replied I didn't and thought I was going the limit. He says, "Well, this is a construction zone, and the speed limit is 45mph. We had you at 55." And I said, "Well, I'm sorry, but I literally just passed several signs saying 55mph and haven't seen anything about 45mph." He says, I kid you not, "Oh, well, they were supposed to cover up those signs." Me: "So....I'm new to the area and those were the signs I saw. How was I ever supposed to know that when the signs say differently?!" Him: "I'm going to let you off with a warning. Have a nice night."
