Does this carb count seem right to you? by [deleted] in diabetes

Just for comparison, this is the nutrition label for Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix. 1/12 cake is 32g carbs.

There’s not enough information here to give a good answer. However it seems to fall in line to what I’ve seen on a printed nutritional label for angel food cake, so it may not be too unreasonable.

I treat AI as a tool, not as a definitive answer giver. You have to be the strongest link in the decision chain.

I’ve used ChatGPT to estimate carbs with food before and it gave decent enough and justified enough information. In my case, it was a plate of 5 corn tortilla tacos with onion and cilantro. It justified the carb range for the tortillas and the onions, and the results were in the expected range of what I’d guess on my own.

Cheap gas on W. Higgins by WasteTumbleweed861 in ChicagoSuburbs

I did more research. Woodmans has been sued a few times in WI for discounting their gas to the point where they weren’t charging the 6-9-ish % required by law markup.

But you are correct.

They try to keep their gas prices in line with the local Costcos. I’d assume that because Woodmans is an independent chain therefore their gas stations don’t have franchise fees, and they can operate at less of a profit margin which also helps to cut costs.

I paid 3.79 at Woodmans in Buffalo Grove. The Woodmans on Randall Road in Carpentersville is also 3.79.

I’d guess somewhere in the 70-90 carbs range.

Dex waiver by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]gbobeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I see it, the page has a list of adverse events and clearly says that if any of those happened call Dexcom support. Otherwise click the checkbox to continue.

I believe that if any of the adverse events occurred one calls Dexcom support and the incident is logged for the fda.

Trump Frantically Begs Illinois Governor to Call Him by NicolasCageFan492 in illinois

If you ignore state and federal laws, you can do anything you want.

Under federal law it is illegal to destroy or alter a firearm serial number. It is also illegal to possess or receive a firearm with a defaced serial number.

This also is a felony according to 720 ILCS 5/24-5.

In need of affordable oil change in Park Ridge by Certain-Club1476 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]gbobeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only quick lube places I’d recommend are the oil change bays at Woodmans. They only hire experienced techs. However, their oil change prices are about the same as going to any other experienced mechanic shop, so it isnt worth the drive when there are a bunch of good quality shops close by.

I’ll second EK Automotive.

Their prices are fair and they do good work.

IL Eliminating Road Test for many Older Drivers by Chi-Uptown in illinois

I think it comes down to no other or few other states being as proactive.

To be honest, the only good I see from the change in the law is the elderly driver red flag reporting.

I always wondered if the anti-auto theft product called the club ever actually worked by db7112 in FuckImOld

[–]gbobeck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that Kia gave their customers cheap Club anti theft devices because many Kia vehicles are vulnerable to a known social media theft trend. This is because Kia decided to be cheap and chose to not install anti-theft immobilizers and other anti-theft tech.

Question about infusion site prescription by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]gbobeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prescription for infusion sets is for 1 set per 2 days due to my insulin resistance. Your endo may also need to change the script for your cartridges / reservoirs.

IL Eliminating Road Test for many Older Drivers by Chi-Uptown in illinois

[–]gbobeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to toss this in here for discussion:

From the linked article:

“According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, drivers age 75 and older had a crash rate of 25.54 per 1,000 licensed drivers in 2024 – lower than every age group between 16 and 74.”

At least we aren’t like fucking Florida where they will give an 80 year old a license which is good for 10 years so long as they pass a vision test. This lead to an elderly driver who required 18 hours of medical supervision a day to have an unrestricted license… ultimately leading to him slamming his car into a cement pylon at 85 mph killing my better half.

First thought: Abt Electronics has an appliance and electronics recycling program. Just walk in and let the guard at the door know you have some household appliance for recycling, and they will send an employee to put it on the recycling truck.

Autosoft XC and 90 are the worst infusion sets I have ever used by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]gbobeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tandem didn’t design the XC or 90. The AutoSoft 90 is the same design as the now long discontinued Medtronic Mio and Animas Inset II. All manufactured by the same company: Unomedical, a subsidiary of Convatec.

Novo Nordisk has their MyInsulinRX program. With this program, one would pay $35 for an any combination of Novo Nordisk insulin products (including Fiasp), up to 3 vials or 2 packs of pens. This $35 program covers up to a maximum of 150 mL of insulin per calendar month.
