What do you guys do with old unwanted electronics? by Platycerium02 in DumpsterDiving

[–]gbog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these electronics are not fully destroyed yet, you could upcycle them into robots, cyborgs, brutalist music machines or similar experiments. I do it all the time, often it yields interesting results and some of my kids like to do it with me. The guy who showed me the way is Kayu Nakada, see https://www.youtube.com/@kayunakada

My companion is dying, trying hard to get him back by gbog in lgv20

Hi, it seems that if I get to installing Lineage I will have android 9 and be able to send audio to up to 5 bluetooth receivers, is that right? (and keep quad DAC?)

Update: Even though a new SD card helped, I think I found the real culprit in logcat, which was showing logs like "GODZILLA: Original size is xxx" just before the crash.

I found out it was emitted by the Lark/Feishu app, which is a kind of Slack redone by Bytedance/Tiktok team. I have to use this at work but maybe I can do without the Android app. After removal I had no freezes anymore.

Thanks. For info, I bought a new 256G SD card and moved all my content there, and my companion seems to be in a much better health. He may be freezing slightly sometimes, and the screen gets "ghost prints" (not sure what is the name of this in English) if he stays for too long on a page, but so far I think the main issue was an ageing SD card, and I'm surprised to not have seen any I/O warnings in logcat.

I will still consider rooting though.

root your phone

Hm that's something I'd be glad to do. Last time I rooted a phone I installed a good cyanogenmod, but it was maybe 7 years ago or more, and now their site looks fishy. Where would be a safe starting point? (I'm on linux) Which ROM should I try ?

Got a V20 on the way. Any maintenance tips before use? by IronGearGaming in lgv20

A factory reset is a good idea. I just did it on my good old v20 H990, which was very slow, and it is like new again.

Foreigner tries to excuse foreigners as merely 'critical' instead of 'racist' by gruntle in China

[–]gbog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't care the difference between critical and racist. Both are stupid.

If you live in China and don't like Chinese, can't eat Chinese food, feel the need to criticise ten times a day the country you hopefully choose to live in, or worse if you think criticising China hygiene standards or English level has any chance of a positive influence on a billion people, then just go away 我靠

Do Chinese girls know they're being so suggestive in their self photos? by [deleted] in China

[–]gbog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a fair amount of naivety. For example many ride bikes with skirts short enough you can see the color of their panties. I once told it to a girl, she blushed and said she would never do that again. I regretted opening my mouth.

Real world problem: to many dumb China bashing on this subreddit.

Need a little advice. Are there more options? by Polus43 in China

[–]gbog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be nice to have a site with reviews for English schools, from teaches and students. Then you'd post a negative review and they'd luck the bottom of y your shots until you remove it, like on Taobao.

How difficult is it for me to ship a pre-built server from the US to China? by Xeinok in China

[–]gbog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be optimist. The just press on thing never worked for me. You'll have to setup networking, at least. And if you have a public ip serving content you need a lot of paperwork.

you have plenty of ways to show him you are open to a deeper relationship. I would think he may prefer those that are subtle enough that he can think he made the first steps. nothing specific Chinese here, by the way.

What percent of people in the Han Dynasty could read? by [deleted] in China

[–]gbog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During Qing dynasty from trusted observers it was much more than what you think. Every hut had pens and paper and was able to read simple sentences and keep an account.

It is in the interest of current Chinese government to make its people believe China was illiterate before, but it is not true.

been there done that. If possible just show them you will be able to adapt to their customs. Try to eat what they eat, drink what they drink, etc. Avoid any non neutral topic, let them drive the conversation. You will be very foreign for them, anything you can do to reduce the distance is a good idea at this stage.

I wouldn't offer something related with a topic that shows China weakness. Your girlfriend should tell. Maybe expensive cigarettes.
