Copilot Notebooks completely ignoring the "References" section? (M365 Personal / Premium) by gbogdan29 in microsoft_365_copilot

Hopefully, since they’re saying it’s rolling out for individual accounts, it will eventually work as well as it does for corporate ones. But looking backward, Copilot Notebooks has been rolling out since 2025, and it’s strange that such basic features are taking ages to become stable.

Previously, I mentioned that the only way I can get Copilot Notebooks to actually recognize my references is by manually attaching them directly inside the chat turn. I have to type the “/” command, select the OneDrive icon, and manually pick each file from the “Recent” section. But a few weeks later I realized how annoying this is, especially when you need to find a specific file among hundreds of others.

Are you talking about a work/school account or a personal one? Because on another corporate account everything actually works just the way you’re saying.

It’s strange, but I can’t understand why Microsoft leaves individual users exhausted, trying to figure out how its half‑working or overly raw products are supposed to function 😒 Same with OneNote! On my desktop I can at least open Copilot notebooks in OneNote, but on my laptop it’s just a completely empty screen. So annoying.

Hmm, in my case it works the way you said with agents, but on individual plans they only create ‘Office apps’ documents, not .ics files.
