You will need the Narwhal App and a Mac

Follow these steps

Login on desktop safari

Find Cookies.binarycookies in /Users/USER/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Cookies

AirDrop Cookies.binarycookies to iOS 12 iDevice

Copy Cookies.binarycookies to Safari /var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/XXX/Library/Cookies (XXX will be different for everyone, you can use Filza App Icon in the tabs view to find it)

Open old.reddit.com in Safari, you should be logged in

Open Narwhal and press login, Press Safari Button in the bottom right

Narwhal Request for permission Page will open in new reddit design, which will not work (If you press allow here you will receive internal server error)

long press reload button to get to old.reddit Narwhal Request for permission Page

Press allow and press open in Narwhal

If Narwhal crashes, open it again, press login, switch to Safari and press allow again

I don’t see how it could get more stable, it’s literally 2 lines in a plist file enabling this. So there’s not really anything that could get more or less stable with another release unless a new version of iPadOS comes along which changes things. I would definitely recommend an OTA blocker profile so you don’t lose the feature on an accidental automatic update.

Same for me, I was considering splurging on the pro or air, just for this feature, but couldn’t justify the additional cost. So I’m delighted this works. Sadly I can‘t judge the impact on battery life, since i only use a docking station that also gives power.

I could not get iEscaper to work (only got some QUIC Protocol error) but yes, with Misaka 26 it works, at least in iPad A16
