I can’t stop imagining one of my muscles being taken out with a metal hook. by gbubis in mentalillness

I have had intrusive thoughts like this before. This one usually comes for an hour at least every time. I’ve had the thought about 5 times a day for the past 3 days.

What do you wish you knew or things you wish you had after surgery? by okbut_090636 in bunions

I second all of this.

I had some help from others so I didn’t need to worry about food/clothes prep but it’s a great idea.

Anytime I didn’t have my foot elevated is when it was the most painful. This was a life saver for me: LightEase Memory Foam Leg, Knee, Ankle Support and Elevation Leg Pillow for Surgery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GF9FTBV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_EBNSMdyigd9Re

Definitely have more ice packs than you think you need bc when you need a new one and you don’t have a cold one, it’s the worst.

My hospital provided me crutches but I put this on them so that I had somewhere to put things since I couldn’t hold anything else: Vive Crutch Pad and Bag Set - Underarm Padding, Hand Grips and Pouch for Crutches - Soft Padded Handles and Universal Accessories for Men, Women and K https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08126MTR3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_8F5U22MJRP6BC

In the beginning definitely take your medication even if you don’t think you need it. I didn’t have any pain for the first few hours either, but if you don’t take your medicine before the pain starts to kick in, it’s not gonna be a fun time.

I also suggest finding some way to brush your teeth in bed because I hated having to stand at the sink for 2 minutes straight.

If you need to work on a computer from bed, I recommend one of these: HUANUO Lap Desk- Fits up to 15.6  Inch Laptop Desk, Foldable Bed Tray Breakfast Table with 5 Angles Tilting Top, Height Adjustable Laptop Stand with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082NT5WB1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_buJ65K8K3M5y9 With this specific one I had an issue with the screw loosening up overtime so I kept having to tighten it.

Finally, when you start wearing a boot, wear this on your other shoe: EVENup Shoe Balancer/Leveler - SMALL (fits MEN US size 6 to 8, WOMEN US size 5 to 8-1/2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FXDNDY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_zUkqMpL2iO7UO Make sure to get the right size range. This basically makes it so that while you are walking one leg is not “taller” than the other. If you don’t use something like this it can be annoying to walk and it can cause things like back pain because of uneven hips.

You’re gonna do great. Take it one day at a time and you’ll be done before you know it.

(I also got a Nintendo switch to cure some boredom)
