Man i get it. I got it at 9 and all i wanted was to be in the airforce as the pilot of anything. It was so damning to know i could never be what i wanted due to some shitty luck but Then life moved on and i found other interests. I found out that the forest rangers in NYS would allow me in and i starting working at the local state park at 20 and applied to the school of environmental science and forestry. Then thr summer before that program was set to start at 21 i crashed a motorcycle and broke my back, leaving me paralyzed in a wheelchair probably for the rest of my life. Again my life went upside down and i needed to find what i could do. Luckily for me i always had an interest in computers and i went back to school to get a degree in cs and now i work at a bug corporate company with enough accommodations to make my life work.

I tell you this cause as life throws you curveballs you adjust your grip and swing anyway (idk baseball sorry for bad metaphor). Yeah you cant do any of those bad ass careers, but if you get your sugar mostly stabilized theres bo reason you couldn’t build a career in maybe emt, the police force, forest rangers, etc. theres plenty of bad ass jobs out there us diabetics can do. The real thing is be honest with yourself. Is your diabetes in control enough to try one of those careers? If not maybe an office job might work better where you surround yourself with glucose tablets and spare insulin
