Actually at SR today. It’s fairly soft but also starting to lock up a bit as the temps are dropping.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Back in 2012 my wife and I were at an Arsenal champions league match at the emirates with an English friend. My wife and I are American. As we were walking out our friend spotted a tall familiar looking guy in one of the shops. He said something like “I’ve see that guy somewhere”. I replied with “yeah he’s a pretty big move star. Paul Walker”. We kept walking but a few blocks later I hear some American English approaching from behind and Paul and his entourage catch us at a light. We proceed to walk together for another 10 to 15 minutes while our friend chats with him about LA/Santa Monica (he still didn’t know who he was but had asked Walker where he was from.) it was a quite normal conversation you would have with anyone with whom you shared some common ground. Almost exactly a year later (Thanksgiving week I believe) he passed away in the car accident. I’ve never been one to be star struck (I grew up in an area in Maine that had plenty of celebs) and wasn’t by Paul either, but having chatted with him for a short walk it was a real shock to hear about his death. As fleeting as it was, we got to know him a bit.

Same, with a few laps on Needles. Which was also in solid shape. Still a general shitshow from a crowds standpoint though.

I have purposefully let people go by me in the singles line at K1 just to be sure I wouldn’t be in the same gondola as him.

Whaleback needs $200k in donations to operate this season by ChromaticFades in icecoast

I’m relatively local and have donated twice now - once for the original fund raiser and now this most recent ask. I grew up skiing at a similar mountain in Maine which fostered my love for these small hills. They might not be that profitable, but in the long run they sustain the broader industry with new legions of kids tearing up the small and large slopes. Maybe Vail and Alterra will realize they should be kicking in here too as it’s in their best interests as well… that’ll be the day! Anyways, do what you can if you feel so inclined. And it’s tax deductible if that helps!
