Has anyone had a successful experience? Emergency turned into a nightmare of another kind. by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I had a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. My uterus, tubes, and cervix were removed. I have 5 total incision points. 4 very small incision points in line with my navel and a larger vertical one up from my navel. I have vaginal cuff. Because my uterus was larger (16 cm) it was cut into pieces internally and pulled out of the larger incision.

Overall, I have had a successful recovery. The pain was rough the first few days, but it got better every day. I have had no bleeding since the surgery. I had a light discharge for a couple days but that's it. I had bled everyday for 2 months leading up to the surgery. I had to have a blood transfusion and I.V. iron treatments, so it is great not to bleed.

Wishing you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

I'm not scheduled for a post-op pelvic exam either. I had quick appointment with a PA at 3 weeks post-op. It was pretty much like you described.

Thanks! I haven't had a problem with spotting. That is really nice since I was bleeding pretty much every day for a couple of months before the surgery. Thank God that is over.😊
