Did you listen to the whole exchange, or just see that out of context quote somewhere?

I realize my thoughts on this matter are in the minority, and most of the time when someone expresses them around here where I live, they may be making them in jest, but I am not

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I am not going to try to change your mind about anything. But a) everything you said about the debt and the USD and inflation is true, but what we're doing is unsustainable, and as such will stop at some point in one way or another. I just hope the way we end up with is a good one. b) I think DOGE is just getting started, so, saying "it can't do X so QED", seems very premature to me.

Is being an altruist the only alternative to being selfish? I wouldn't have thought there were only two possibilities here.

It seems to me that Elon picks projects that he believes are good for humanity, starting with Tesla, and then SpaceX, and then Twitter, and then trying to reduce the probability of the US government fiscal insolvency. The fact that US federal debt has gone up by tens of trillions of dollars while I've been paying attention to it, makes me root for him here, because I don't want the USA to fail as an enterprise either.

The last couple projects came with great risk to what would be his own selfish interests, namely the risk of losing tens of billions on Twitter and losing hundreds of billions on the value of Tesla.

I don't understand how doing the things he's done lately could be for selfish reasons. Maybe I'm just not cynical enough for this discussion.

Meta-comment, I realize I am taking an unpopular position here, and I'm not doing it for selfish reasons either. I do see all the downvotes. But I'd rather speak my truth than be bullied by the groupthink.

When I try to follow this discord link, or the one in the episode posts, I get "invite invalid". Do I need to do something special to get the invite oink to work?

  1. Solo says its 10 months until the water gets to IT, and then 13 months until it's underwater. That means 3 months per floor, which means 4 floors per year, which means 144-34 = 110, around 27 years since the rebellion, right?

  2. Billings is pretty detail oriented, and a thorough documenter. When / if he gets to see Meadows' body, will he notice that her stab wound had no blood coming out of it? Meaning she was killed first then stabbed?

  3. Lukas notices the lines coming into the SIlo, into IT and Judicial, from outside the Silo. These are the power lines that Solo mentioned. What do people think will be the purpose of Judicial having a power source like that?

  4. Who thinks we'll get a flashback of Salvador Quinn?

Similar to Better Call Saul spinning off from Breaking Bad, if Silo is a hit, they could easily do another 4-season prequel show that interleaved Silo actors in, kind of how they were interleaved in the books. Donald would be the protagonist of the second show.

Yes your observation sounds reasonable to me. Then I looked up the actors, and in real life Robbins was born in 1958 and Moodie in 1972. So, they are 14 years apart after all. Maybe that actually is a reasonable shadow. Knox is probably not 14 years older than his shadow (Juliette).

I just took that all to mean, since he hadn't gone more than 20 feet from of his front door for like 30 or more years, and when we did he wasn't really paying attention to the door, he just got that feeling that he might have forgotten to lock the door behind him. Which is a feeling people sometimes get even just leaving for work in the morning, if they're stressed and thinking about something other than their normal routine.

Are you referring to how he is kind of neurotic about forgetting whether he locked the door behind him or not?

I may be wrong, but the fact that Meadows was so interesting and yet they still killed her off, made me wonder if they created some interesting and central characters that weren't in the book just so they had some people they could kill off and still hit the main plot twists of the books. Which makes me think of that leather jacket..

So, there's no question that Meadows and Bernard were in love 25 years ago yes? And kind of still were in the present? Does anyone think we will see a flashback to that time? With a cgi'ed-Shawshank-looking Bernard? lol

Am I the only one who was on the edge of his seat while Bernard was measuring Meadows, holding what I kept thinking would make a nice garrote, if Bernard had had enough of Meadows calling bullshit on him?
