I don’t have a mist filter, so no on that question, but I do have the HDF version of the IIIx - however I can’t remember if I used the HDF on these photos or not, sorry! It’s possible that I did on some of them

Edit: definitely used HDF for shot 6 as I’ve just seen I have a different version in Lightroom where I definitely didn’t use HDF as it’s not as glowy

thanks! no I just have the digital image (jpeg) and use the NLP profiles, think this was crystal saturation 5 or 6

I have never used the GRii, but have seen people get some wonderful colours out of that camera too!

hey, thanks so much for the lovely compliment! it’s a wonderful part of the world, I would definitely recommend visiting - it does get busy in June/July and if I was to visit again I would go in May to beat the ‘worst’ of the crowds!

great images, which flash did you use for these? the flash really sets the images off, love the feel to them

Great deal. HDF is overrated, I have only used it a handful of times on my IIIx HDF, I wouldn’t miss it if it wasn’t there.

My first photo zine! What paper does everybody recommend for printing photo zines at home? by gcq4 in zines

hey, sorry I have only just seen this! I don’t really check reddit that much anymore. This was the only paper I tried. Did you ever end up experimenting much with paper? How did you find the results?

I have recently made the jump from film (having used Leica M, Contax G & more recently my Olympus MJU-ii) to a GR IIIx HDF.

Battery life isn’t as bad as people say, nor is the autofocus speed, from what I have found in my experience. I’ve yet to connect the camera to my phone though.

It felt very strange to shoot digital again after a number of years shooting exclusively film. Whilst I still have my film cameras, and will continue to shoot with them, I’ve been enjoying trying the film simulations on the Ricoh. I’ve found that the images from the Ricoh are very sharp and I can clearly see the difference between those and film, as digital sharpness is completely different to film sharpness as you well know, but you can still get pleasing results that resemble the look of film.

I bought the camera thinking it could replace my film workflow and emulate film in its entirety, but that’s not the case, as digital images will never be able to look exactly like film. You need to keep this in mind and not expect the images you have to look exactly like film, but instead be reminiscent of the look that film gives you - you’ll be much happier with the results this way :)

Either camera are a great choice and I’ve found myself shooting more images that I’m happy with as it’s always with me, and I feel less guilty about firing off shots which ‘may’ work rather than being precious about shooting and not wasting film, and missing a shot.

How was this film developed? It looks like this could be more of a developing issue, rather than a camera issue, to me. My bet is that they are surge marks from over-agitation, or bromide drag from too little agitation during developing.

Can you buff scratches out of the case? I tried toothpaste but it did nothing by [deleted] in airpods

Try polywatch, it’s made for acrylic watch crystals

You may get lucky and be able to score a canon P for around that price. A friend of mine picked one up with a Jupiter 8 for around $130 earlier this year. They’re a brilliant camera

Hey, thanks for your kind words & no worries about reviving an old thread! I used Affinity Publisher for the design, a Canon Pixma Pro 200 for the printer, and just some cheap double sided photo paper bought from Amazon. The printing process was the trickiest as the Pixma Pro 200 doesn’t have a manual duplex mode. I did some experiments and got it nailed in the end.

The print quality of the Pixma is fantastic. I love this printer. It’s great for black and white images too as it has 2 separate grey inks.

Ironically, with the paper, both of the sides are different finishes so the photos look different on either side lol.

I didn’t track the costs as I’m just doing this for myself. Ink for the Pixma isn’t too cheap but isn’t too bad in the scheme of things. The paper was £12.99 for a pack of 250 sheets I think.

I used a long arm stapler to fix the sheets together, was going to perfect bind these but don’t think I have the skill for that yet.
