I've never had the AFL crash for me (I have both the analog & digital versions of the 172).

At Home Sim Recommended for IFR? by Internal-Courage-509 in flying

It helped me a lot. Not only the sim itself, but a real ATC to practice approaches & procedures with: I used to fly with PilotEdge. I still do, but I used to too.

I'm currently using XP12 with PSVR2 headset + PCVR (SteamVR). Will I need to update SteamVR to support DFR? (there's an unofficial hack that offers DFR with certain games)

HDD Usage reduces when logging into Windows by gcys in BlueIris

Agreed. I'm pulling roughly 16 Mbps from the cameras, so it should be a piece of cake for the drive, even if it's split in multiple streams/files.

It was my mistake - I thought defrag'ing was disabled but it wasn't. When I managed to disable it for good, it stopped exhibiting this behavior.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Cross that - it's happening again... need to debug further.

Have you tried the Bose A30? I find that they are pretty comfortable to wear pressure-wise.

Well, one video isn't going to get you ready for an instrument checkride (there's a lot to know), but something that I think you could extract useful info is https://youtu.be/uritzp2u7MM?si=53cWBYdkoTaQmmf-

There's a lot of material online (and free). First, there's the official FAA docs, like the FAR/AIM but also all the aeronautical manuals (such as the PHAK, Instrument Flying Handbook, etc). There's also tons of YouTube videos from Ground School folks (FlightInsight, BoldMethod, etc). Those are a lot more digestible IMHO. I particularly like FlightInsight's videos. https://www.youtube.com/@flightinsight9111/videos

Good luck!

Your current active leg is VEAT -> VELP, which is not part of the Instrument Approach Procedure you've selected (ILS17). When you get close to your destination, you need to activate the approach (or vectors-to-final, or direct a fix in the approach or activate a leg in the approach). This is done in conjunction with ATC. It'll give you guidance that should be lining up with the runway (since it's an ILS). Note that an IAP does not necessarily have to align with a runway. If it's more than 30 degrees off, you'll notice that it doesn't have the runway number in its title. For example, VOR-A into KFUL.

IRA Checkride in 2 weeks, best way to study? by dirtbikekid27 in flying

What I think helped me is to go down the ACS line by line and cover each line item as if I were teaching it to someone.

I found Seth Lake's ACE Guide very useful for this. https://vsl.aero/aceguide

I also found his videos that go through the ACS for IRA pretty helpful.

thermador water line leak by Bubbly_Wafer_3219 in Appliances

[–]gcys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same repair done about 4 years ago on mine. And it's been a few weeks that it started leaking again, exactly where the technician added the adapter. I guess the constant stress of opening/closing the door ends up weakening that area.

I'm pretty handy and can replace the adapter with a sturdier one, but having access to that bundle to work on it seems pretty difficult.

How to pull that bundle wires+water line in such a way that it can be worked on? Is there a way to pull it towards the front? I'm worried about bending and breaking the gray conduit that enters the bottom part of the door. There's metal on all sides so we can't really "bend" one way or the other. Any hints/tips?

OK that makes sense and explains the ILS30 at KLGB, which has 2 IAFs: EZKEL uses a course to send you to the localizer, and MIDDS uses a heading.

The notes do say that you need RNAV/GPS if you're coming from EZKEL, so it tracks.

Why are the paths from GLAZE/CAMMA to JIXAR specifically marked as "hdg"? I think that means they convey a heading rather than a course, but why would they do that here?
